latest maintenance release Git v2.3.1 is now available at\nthe usual places.\n\nThe tarballs are found at:\n\n https://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/\n\nThe following public repositories all have a copy of the 'v2.3.1'\ntag and the 'maint' branch that the tag points at:\n\n url = git://repo.or.cz/alt-git.git\n url = https://code.google.com/p/git-core/\n url = Notes\n========================\n\nFixes since v2.3\n----------------\n\n * The interactive \"show a list and let the user choose from it\"\n interface \"add -i\" used showed and prompted to the user even when\n the candidate list was empty, against which the only \"choice\" the\n user could have made was to choose nothing.\n\n * \"git apply --whitespace=fix\" used to under-allocate the memory\n when the fix resulted in a longer text than the original patch.\n\n * \"git log --help\" used to show rev-list options that are irrelevant\n to the \"log\" command.\n\n * The error message from \"git commit\", when a non-existing author\n name was given as value to the \"--author=\" parameter, has been\n reworded to avoid misunderstanding.\n\n * A broken pack .idx file in the receiving repository prevented the\n dumb http transport from fetching a good copy of it from the other\n side.\n\n * The documentation incorrectly said that C(opy) and R(ename) are the\n only ones that can be followed by the score number in the output in\n the --raw format.\n\n * Fix a misspelled conditional that is always true.\n\n * Code to read branch name from various files in .git/ directory\n would have misbehaved if the code to write them left an empty file.\n\n * The \"git push\" documentation made the \"--repo=<there>\" option\n easily misunderstood.\n\n * After attempting and failing a password-less authentication\n (e.g. kerberos), libcURL refuses to fall back to password based\n Basic authentication without a bit of help/encouragement.\n\n * Setting diff.submodule to 'log' made \"git format-patch\" produce\n broken patches.\n\n * \"git rerere\" (invoked internally from many mergy operations) did\n not correctly signal errors when told to update the working tree\n files and failed to do so for whatever reason.\n\n * \"git blame HEAD -- missing\" failed to correctly say \"HEAD\" when it\n tried to say \"No such path 'missing' in HEAD\".\n\nAlso contains typofixes, documentation updates and trivial code clean-ups.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n\nChanges since v2.3.0 are as follows:\n\nAlexander Kuleshov (1):\n add -i: return from list_and_choose if there is no candidate\n\nDoug Kelly (2):\n t4255: test am submodule with diff.submodule\n format-patch: ignore diff.submodule setting\n\nJeff King (7):\n git-compat-util: add xstrdup_or_null helper\n builtin/apply.c: use xstrdup_or_null instead of null_strdup\n builtin/commit.c: use xstrdup_or_null instead of envdup\n use xstrdup_or_null to replace ternary conditionals\n dumb-http: do not pass NULL path to parse_pack_index\n read_and_strip_branch: fix typo'd address-of operator\n do not check truth value of flex arrays\n\nJonathan Nieder (1):\n rerere: error out on autoupdate failure\n\nJunio C Hamano (6):\n apply.c: typofix\n apply: make update_pre_post_images() sanity check the given postlen\n apply: count the size of postimage correctly\n Documentation: what does \"git log --indexed-objects\" even mean?\n diff-format doc: a score can follow M for rewrite\n Git 2.3.1\n\nLukas Fleischer (1):\n blame.c: fix garbled error message\n\nMichael J Gruber (2):\n commit: reword --author error message\n git-push.txt: document the behavior of --repo\n\nbrian m. carlson (1):\n remote-curl: fall back to Basic auth if Negotiate fails\n"},{"id":"256658","messageId":"54EE2B6D.10403@avirtualhome.com","threadId":"38648","inReplyTo":"xmqqzj82o4n1.fsf@gitster.dls.corp.google.com","subject":"Re: [ANNOUNCE] Git
