I've been reading\nthat Visual Studio 2013 now has 'native git support', but as I've been\nreading into this more and more, it appears to me that the 'native git\nsupport' is really the fact that Team Foundation Server has git\nsupport on it and that I'd need to setup TFS in order to use the\nVisual Studio 2013's native git support. Can anyone either confirm\nand/or deny this for me? My personal suspicion is that I will need to\nimplement TortiseGIT to do what I want to do, but wanted to throw this\nquestion out to all you masters of git to direct me in the proper\npath.\n\nIf, in actuality, I can use a CentOS git server with Visual Studio\n2013, can anyone point me in the direction of an\nFAQ/directions/YouTube video/book/anything for how to setup something\nlike this? I have the resources to setup a CentOS git server (which\nwill also host some DreamWeaver CC users as well on other projects),\nbut setting up a dedicated TFS server isn't an option, hence why I'm\nlooking into this.\n\nThanks in advance,\nCharles\n"},{"id":"239467","messageId":"20140423192037.GF15516@google.com","threadId":"36483","inReplyTo":"CAOWfAePSjpOaN0pgaVqjHxvdMPp2WnEhHj2-Wea1dV7WyjtMiw@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: Trying to setup Visual Studio 2013 with a CentOS 6.5 x64 git server","fromName":"Jonathan Nieder","fromEmail":"jrnieder@gmail.com","sentAt":"2014-04-23T19:20:37Z","receivedAt":"2014-04-23T19:20:37Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jrnieder@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/281595?v=4"},"body":"Hi,\n\nCharles Buege wrote:\n\n> If, in actuality, I can use a CentOS git server with Visual Studio\n> 2013, can anyone point me in the direction of an\n> FAQ/directions/YouTube video/book/anything for how to setup something\n> like this?\n\nI suspect\nhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh850445.aspx#remote_3rd_party_connect_clone\nshould get you started.\n\nAs far as I can tell from #git, every once in a while people seem to\nwant to escape from GUIs to have control over what they're doing (for\nexample when cleaning up existing commits, or when performing a\ncomplex merge).
