It may be a good first step in\n the right direction, but needs more work to at least get the\n mark-up right before public consumption.\n\n Will hold.\n\n\n* jk/branch-at-publish-rebased (2014-01-17) 5 commits\n - t1507 (rev-parse-upstream): fix typo in test title\n - implement @{publish} shorthand\n - branch_get: provide per-branch pushremote pointers\n - branch_get: return early on error\n - sha1_name: refactor upstream_mark\n\n Give an easier access to the tracking branches from \"other\" side in\n a triangular workflow by introducing B@{publish} that works in a\n similar way to how B@{upstream} does.\n\n Meant to be used as a basis for whatever Ram wants to build on.\n\n Will hold.\n\n\n* rb/merge-prepare-commit-msg-hook (2014-01-10) 4 commits\n - merge: drop unused arg from abort_commit method signature\n - merge: make prepare_to_commit responsible for write_merge_state\n - t7505: ensure cleanup after hook blocks merge\n - t7505: add missing &&\n\n Expose more merge states (e.g. $GIT_DIR/MERGE_MODE) to hooks that\n run during \"git merge\". The log message stresses too much on one\n hook, prepare-commit-msg, but it would equally apply to other hooks\n like post-merge, I think.\n\n Waiting for a reroll.\n\n\n* jl/submodule-recursive-checkout (2013-12-26) 5 commits\n - Teach checkout to recursively checkout submodules\n - submodule: teach unpack_trees() to update submodules\n - submodule: teach unpack_trees() to repopulate submodules\n - submodule: teach unpack_trees() to remove submodule contents\n - submodule: prepare for recursive checkout of submodules\n\n Expecting a reroll.\n\n\n* jc/graph-post-root-gap (2013-12-30) 3 commits\n - WIP: document what we want at the end\n - graph: remove unused code a bit\n - graph: stuff the current commit into graph->columns[]\n\n This was primarily a RFH ($gmane/239580).\n\n\n* hv/submodule-ignore-fix (2013-12-06) 4 commits\n - disable complete ignorance of submodules for index <-> HEAD diff\n - always show committed submodules in summary after commit\n - teach add -f option for ignored submodules\n - fix 'git add' to skip submodules configured as ignored\n\n Teach \"git add\" to be consistent with \"git status\" when changes to\n submodules are set to be ignored, to avoid surprises after checking\n with \"git status\" to see there isn't any change to be further added\n and then see that \"git add .\" adds changes to them.\n\n I think a reroll is coming, so this may need to be replaced, but I\n needed some practice with heavy conflict resolution. It conflicts\n with two changes to \"git add\" that have been scheduled for Git 2.0\n quite badly, and I think I got the resolution right this time.\n\n Waiting for a reroll.\n\n\n* np/pack-v4 (2013-09-18) 90 commits\n . packv4-parse.c: add tree offset caching\n . t1050: replace one instance of show-index with verify-pack\n . index-pack, pack-objects: allow creating .idx v2 with .pack v4\n . unpack-objects: decode v4 trees\n . unpack-objects: allow to save processed bytes to a buffer\n - ...\n\n Nico and Duy advancing the eternal vaporware pack-v4. This is here\n primarily for wider distribution of the preview edition.\n\n Temporarily ejected from 'pu', to try out jk/pack-bitmap, which\n this topic conflicts with.\n\n\n* tg/perf-lib-test-perf-cleanup (2013-09-19) 2 commits\n - perf-lib: add test_perf_cleanup target\n - perf-lib: split starting the test from the execution\n\n Add test_perf_cleanup shell function to the perf suite, that allows\n the script writers to define a test with a clean-up action.\n\n Will hold.\n\n\n* jc/format-patch (2013-04-22) 2 commits\n - format-patch: --inline-single\n - format-patch: rename \"no_inline\" field\n\n A new option to send a single patch to the standard output to be\n appended at the bottom of a message. I personally have no need for\n this, but it was easy enough to cobble together. Tests, docs and\n stripping out more MIMEy stuff are left as exercises to interested\n parties.\n\n\n* jc/show-branch (2014-03-24) 5 commits\n - show-branch: use commit slab to represent bitflags of arbitrary width\n - show-branch.c: remove \"all_mask\"\n - show-branch.c: abstract out \"flags\" operation\n - show-branch.c: lift all_mask/all_revs to a global static\n - show-branch.c: update comment style\n\n Waiting for the final step to lift the hard-limit before sending it out.\n\n--------------------------------------------------\n[Cooking]\n\n* jc/apply-ignore-whitespace (2014-03-26) 1 commit\n - apply --ignore-space-change: lines with and without leading whitespaces do not match\n\n An RFC. \"--ignore-space-change\" option of \"git apply\" ignored the\n spaces at the beginning of line too aggressively, which is\n inconsistent with the option of the same name \"diff\" and \"git diff\"\n have.\n\n Will hold.\n\n\n* jc/rev-parse-argh-dashed-multi-words (2014-03-24) 3 commits\n (merged to 'next' on 2014-03-31 at 1c48649)\n + parse-options: make sure argh string does not have SP or _\n + update-index: teach --cacheinfo a new syntax \"mode,sha1,path\"\n + parse-options: multi-word argh should use dash to separate words\n\n Make sure that the help text given to describe the \"<param>\" part\n of the \"git cmd --option=<param>\" does not contain SP or _,\n e.g. \"--gpg-sign=<key-id>\" option for \"git commit\" is not spelled\n as \"--gpg-sign=<key id>\".\n\n Will merge to 'master'.\n\n\n* jk/commit-dates-parsing-fix (2014-03-26) 1 commit\n - When merging with the topic branches,\n> the revert should then override the contamination.\n\nThat was actually not the cumbersome part. I wanted to be very sure\nthat the revert was correctly done, and one way I know to get an\nindependent verification is to rebuild the master branch starting\nall the way back from the point before the problematic topic was\nmerged to it. Some of the topics merged to 'master' after that\npoint, however, were forked after that original problematic merge\nwas made, so they needed to be rebuilt before I could do so.\n\nIt is worth noting that this verification can also be done in a\ndifferent way. You can start at 06c27689^1, and \"cherry-pick -m1\"\n(or \"cherry-pick\" for non-merge commits that update the release\nnotes) the commits in \"git rev-list --reverse --first-parent\n06c27689..master\" on top of it. That should result in the same tree\nobject as a correct revert on top of 'master' would have.\n\nBecause \"cherry-pick -m1\" loses the other parents, the resulting\nhistory does not reflect the reality, but I am not doing this in\norder to replace the history of the 'master' with the result but\nonly to make sure that the final tree matches what would have\nhappened if the topic were not merged to 'master', so it is\nsufficient for the purpose of this exercise.\n\nHope it clarifies.\n"},{"id":"238316","messageId":"20140402200409.GA9984@sandbox-ub","threadId":"36326","inReplyTo":"xmqqppl128q8.fsf@gitster.dls.corp.google.com","subject":"Re: What's cooking in git.git (Mar 2014, #08; Mon, 31)","fromName":"Heiko Voigt","fromEmail":"hvoigt@hvoigt.net","sentAt":"2014-04-02T20:04:09Z","receivedAt":"2014-04-02T20:04:09Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"hvoigt@hvoigt.net","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/184958?v=4"},"body":"On Mon, Mar 31, 2014 at 05:29:03PM -0700, Junio C Hamano wrote:\n> * hv/submodule-ignore-fix (2013-12-06) 4 commits\n> - disable complete ignorance of submodules for index <-> HEAD diff\n> - always show committed submodules in summary after commit\n> - teach add -f option for ignored submodules\n> - fix 'git add' to skip submodules configured as ignored\n> \n> Teach \"git add\" to be consistent with \"git status\" when changes to\n> submodules are set to be ignored, to avoid surprises after checking\n> with \"git status\" to see there isn't any change to be further added\n> and then see that \"git add .\" adds changes to them.\n> \n> I think a reroll is coming, so this may need to be replaced, but I\n> needed some practice with heavy conflict resolution.
