IOW this is a\n> workaround for a problem in v1.68.\n\nFor completeness / comparison:\n\nI have docbook-xsl v1.68 (strictly, 1.68.1-0.1 as packaged in debian\nstable) and docbook-xsl v1.69 (1.69.1 freshly downloaded with the\nmanpages/ChangeLog listing the last change on 2005-08-11).\n\nI have asciidoc 7.1.1 (local install) and xmlto version 0.0.18 as packaged\nin debian stable.\n\nAlso:\n\n$ xsltproc -V\nUsing libxml 20616, libxslt 10112 and libexslt 810\nxsltproc was compiled against libxml 20616, libxslt 10112 and libexslt 810\nlibxslt 10112 was compiled against libxml 20616\nlibexslt 810 was compiled against libxml 20616\n\nOf that lot, I believe only the docbook-xsl version actually matters\nfor this test, but I'm happy to learn otherwise.\n\nI run\n\nasciidoc -b docbook -d manpage -f asciidoc.conf git-branch.txt \nxmlto man git-branch.xml \nasciidoc -b xhtml11 -d manpage -f asciidoc.conf git-branch.txt \n\nI vary the docbook-xsl version being used and I vary the asciidoc.conf\nfile to include or exclude the \"literallayout\" change.\n\nThe four html files produced differ only in the \"Last updated\" time.\n\nThe two man pages produced with v1.69 are identical.\n\nThe two man pages produced with v1.68 differ in the expected and intended\nways, replacing \".IP\" with a \".nf/.fi\" pair in two places.\n\nAnd the differences between 1.68 and 1.69 with the old configuration, and\n1.68 and 1.69 with the new configuration, are also confined to that area.\n\nRepeating the tests on git-clone.txt (which also has a multiline example)\ngets the same result.\n\nAnd doing the test on git-mv.txt (with no multiline example) shows\nthat the asciidoc.conf change has no effect on pages like that. No real\nsurprise there.\n\nSo I'm happy that the (fixed) change improves something and breaks\nnothing, at least for those versions of the tools.\n\n\tf\n-- \nFrancis Daly        francis@daoine.org\n"}]}
