Hopefully this will be the last update to the\n1.8.5.x series.\n\nThe release tarballs are found at:\n\n    http://code.google.com/p/git-core/downloads/list\n\nand their SHA-1 checksums are:\n\n7bb4ea883b1f8f6f7f927035f85e8e27b57e0194  git-1.8.5.5.tar.gz\n39dd7979c8757d2dc4bc3aaa82741ba93557d566  git-htmldocs-1.8.5.5.tar.gz\na4a2aef1440d4751f37c65359da57c9bd51a7beb  git-manpages-1.8.5.5.tar.gz\n\nThe following public repositories all have a copy of the v1.8.5.5\ntag and the maint branch that the tag points at:\n\n  url = https://kernel.googlesource.com/pub/scm/git/git\n  url = git://repo.or.cz/alt-git.git\n  url = https://code.google.com/p/git-core/\n  url = git://git.sourceforge.jp/gitroot/git-core/git.git\n  url = git://git-core.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/git-core/git-core\n  url = https://github.com/gitster/git\n\nAlso, http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/ has copies of the\nrelease tarballs.\n\nGit v1.8.5.5 Release Notes\n==========================\n\nFixes since v1.8.5.4\n--------------------\n\n * The pathspec matching code, while comparing two trees (e.g. \"git\n   diff A B -- path1 path2\") was too aggressive and failed to match\n   some paths when multiple pathspecs were involved.\n\n * \"git repack --max-pack-size=8g\" stopped being parsed correctly when\n   the command was reimplemented in C.\n\n * A recent update to \"git send-email\" broke platforms where\n   /etc/ssl/certs/ directory exists but cannot be used as SSL_ca_path\n   (e.g. Fedora rawhide).\n\n * A handful of bugs around interpreting $branch@{upstream} notation\n   and its lookalike, when $branch part has interesting characters,\n   e.g. \"@\", and \":\", have been fixed.\n\n * \"git clone\" would fail to clone from a repository that has a ref\n   directly under \"refs/\", e.g. \"refs/stash\", because different\n   validation paths do different things on such a refname.  Loosen the\n   client side's validation to allow such a ref.\n\n * \"git log --left-right A...B\" lost the \"leftness\" of commits\n   reachable from A when A is a tag as a side effect of a recent\n   bugfix.  This is a regression in 1.8.4.x series.\n\n * \"git merge-base --octopus\" used to leave cleaning up suboptimal\n   result to the caller, but now it does the clean-up itself.\n\n * \"git mv A B/\", when B does not exist as a directory, should error\n   out, but it didn't.\n\nAlso contains typofixes, documentation updates and trivial code clean-ups.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n\nChanges since v1.8.5.4 are as follows:\n\nAndy Spencer (1):\n      tree_entry_interesting: match against all pathspecs\n\nJeff King (9):\n      fetch-pack: do not filter out one-level refs\n      interpret_branch_name: factor out upstream handling\n      interpret_branch_name: rename \"cp\" variable to \"at\"\n      interpret_branch_name: always respect \"namelen\" parameter\n      interpret_branch_name: avoid @{upstream} past colon\n      interpret_branch_name: find all possible @-marks\n      repack: fix typo in max-pack-size option\n      repack: make parsed string options const-correct\n      repack: propagate pack-objects options as strings\n\nJunio C Hamano (5):\n      merge-base: separate \"--independent\" codepath into its own helper\n      merge-base --octopus: reduce the result from get_octopus_merge_bases()\n      revision: mark contents of an uninteresting tree uninteresting\n      revision: propagate flag bits from tags to pointees\n      Git 1.8.5.5\n\nRuben Kerkhof (1):\n      send-email: /etc/ssl/certs/ directory may not be usable as ca_path\n"}]}
