I have been using gitk for 3\nyears, and I use it to verify what I am doing in the shell.\nIn the version I use now, the behavior has changed.\n\nWhen I do\nmkdir temp\ncd temp\ngit init\ntouch foo\ngit add foo\ngit commit -m 'foo'\necho \"bar\" > foo\ngit add foo\ngit commit -m 'foo'\n\ngitk &\n\nthen I see gitk showing the foo and bar commits, so far so good. Then,\nleaving gitk open, I do:\n\ngit reset --hard HEAD~1\n\nand in gitk, I select \"Reload\"(Ctrl-F5), and I still see both commits,\nnot just commit foo. This is very annoying for me for doing rebases,\nas I don't care about all the dangling commits left by my rebases, and\nnow I have to restart gitk each time to see a \"clean\" history.\nI believe \"Refresh\"(F5) may still display such commits, but a reload\nshould display what I would get if I restarted gitk, which is just\ndisplaying one commit in the above case.\n\ncheers,\n  Thibault\n"},{"id":"231497","messageId":"CAM8gEgg2v+isLEcf_rmACBLoaKL0VoA8k=2BpM2JAiY8wNvWuA@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"35435","inReplyTo":"CAByu6UXXVRoQtFkU+A3E885pxVoiPdXXwXbozBP9gciD9BZMBQ@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: gitk refresh keeps showing dangling commits","fromName":"Gauthier Östervall","fromEmail":"gauthier@ostervall.se","sentAt":"2013-12-04T09:45:13Z","receivedAt":"2013-12-04T09:45:13Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"gauthier@ostervall.se","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/178409?v=4"},"body":"On Fri, Nov 29, 2013 at 4:27 PM, Thibault Kruse\n<tibokruse@googlemail.com> wrote:\n\n> and in gitk, I select \"Reload\"(Ctrl-F5), and I still see both commits,\n> not just commit foo.\n\nDo you use the menu entry Reload, or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F5?\nThe shortcut was changed a while ago to Shift+F5.\nhttp://git.661346.n2.nabble.com/PATCH-gitk-avoid-Meta1-F5-td7444531.html\n"}]}
