If so,\n> imagine that's what I typed above ;-)\n\nIf you're looking at implementing this, please look at \"git help\nremote-helpers\" (or\nhttps://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/docs/git-remote-helpers.html\n) which describes an infrastructure (in addition to\nfast-import/export) we have for interacting with foreign version\ncontrol systems. A remote helper for fossil repos would allow you to\nconsider the fossil repo as a git remote, and the usual git\nclone/fetch/pull/push commands for interacting with remote repos would\nJust Work against a fossil repo.\n\nI understand how you might want to model this on \"git svn\", since that\nis obviously the most popular interface between git and an other VCS,\nbut I believe git-svn is not the best example for how to write these\ngateways nowadays. git-svn was written long before git remote-helpers\nexisted, but I hope/believe that if it was written again today, it\nwould use remote-helpers instead of implementing its own commands.\n\ngit-remote-bzr and git-remote-hg in contrib/remote-helpers/ is the\ncode that implements the git+bzr and git+hg bridges you mention above.\nThose would be useful reference points when implementing a\ngit-remote-fossil helper. git-remote-mediawiki in contrib/mw-to-git/\nmight also be a useful example.\n\n\n...Johan\n\n-- \nJohan Herland, <johan@herland.net>\nwww.herland.net\n"},{"id":"251253","messageId":"1414710887191-7620514.post@n2.nabble.com","threadId":"35354","inReplyTo":"CALKQrgd9u3Oqrs8wbGqhq17=yFofFKpnFLtwfb-5A8JfVkrW7A@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: Git -> fossil bridging?","fromName":"tofutim","fromEmail":"tim@loqu8.com","sentAt":"2014-10-30T23:14:47Z","receivedAt":"2014-10-30T23:14:47Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"tim@loqu8.com","avatar":null},"body":"Dear Tim and Johan, \n\nAre either of you aware of any progress (attempted or otherwise) ever made\non \"git fossil\"?
