A new\n   capability has been defined in the pack protocol to convey this\n   information so that cloning from a repository with more than one\n   branches pointing at the same commit where the HEAD is at now\n   reliably sets the initial branch in the resulting repository.\n\n * We did not handle cases where http transport gets redirected during\n   the authorization request (e.g. from http:// to https://).\n\n * \"git rev-list --objects ^v1.0^ v1.0\" gave v1.0 tag itself in the\n   output, but \"git rev-list --objects v1.0^..v1.0\" did not.\n\n * The fall-back parsing of commit objects with broken author or\n   committer lines were less robust than ideal in picking up the\n   timestamps.\n\n * Bash prompting code to deal with an SVN remote as an upstream\n   were coded in a way not supported by older Bash versions (3.x).\n\n * \"git checkout topic\", when there is not yet a local \"topic\" branch\n   but there is a unique remote-tracking branch for a remote \"topic\"\n   branch, pretended as if \"git checkout -t -b topic remote/$r/topic\"\n   (for that unique remote $r) was run. This hack however was not\n   implemented for \"git checkout topic --\".\n\n * Coloring around octopus merges in \"log --graph\" output was screwy.\n\n * We did not generate HTML version of documentation to \"git subtree\"\n   in contrib/.\n\n * The synopsis section of \"git unpack-objects\" documentation has been\n   clarified a bit.\n\n * An ancient How-To on serving Git repositories on an HTTP server\n   lacked a warning that it has been mostly superseded with more\n   modern way.\n\nAlso contains a handful of trivial code clean-ups, documentation\nupdates, updates to the test suite, etc.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n\nChanges since v1.8.4.2 are as follows:\n\nAntoine Pelisse (1):\n      remote-hg: unquote C-style paths when exporting\n\nBrian Gernhardt (3):\n      t5570: Update for symref capability\n      t5570: Update for clone-progress-to-stderr branch\n      t5570: Update for clone-progress-to-stderr branch\n\nHemmo Nieminen (1):\n      graph: fix coloring around octopus merges\n\nJeff King (11):\n      http_get_file: style fixes\n      http_request: factor out curlinfo_strbuf\n      http: refactor options to http_get_*\n      http: hoist credential request out of handle_curl_result\n      http: provide effective url to callers\n      http: update base URLs when we see redirects\n      remote-curl: make refs_url a strbuf\n      remote-curl: store url as a strbuf\n      remote-curl: rewrite base url from info/refs redirects\n      split_ident: parse timestamp from end of line\n      subtree: add makefile target for html docs\n\nJonathan Nieder (1):\n      t/README: tests can use perl even with NO_PERL\n\nJunio C Hamano (10):\n      t5505: fix \"set-head --auto with ambiguous HEAD\" test\n      upload-pack.c: do not pass confusing cb_data to mark_our_ref()\n      upload-pack: send symbolic ref information as capability\n      upload-pack: send non-HEAD symbolic refs\n      connect.c: make parse_feature_value() static\n      connect: annotate refs with their symref information in get_remote_head()\n      clone: test the new HEAD detection logic\n      revision: do not peel tags used in range notation\n      Start preparing for 1.8.4.3\n      Git 1.8.4.3\n\nKarsten Blees (1):\n      gitignore.txt: fix documentation of \"**\" patterns\n\nMatthieu Moy (2):\n      checkout: allow dwim for branch creation for \"git checkout $branch --\"\n      checkout: proper error message on 'git checkout foo bar --'\n\nRamsay Allan Jones (1):\n      http.c: Spell the null pointer as NULL\n\nSZEDER Gábor (1):\n      bash prompt: don't use '+=' operator in show upstream code path\n\nSitaram Chamarty (1):\n      doc/howto: warn about (dumb)http server document being too old\n\nVivien Didelot (2):\n      Documentation: restore a space in unpack-objects usage\n      Documentation: \"pack-file\" is not literal in unpack-objects\n"}]}
