When\npatching configure.ac for these issues, it's necessary to rebuild\nconfigure from configure.ac.\n\nUnfortunately, git doesn't include the one non-standard m4 macro it\ndepends on, TYPE_SOCKLEN_T. This makes it impossible to completely\nrebuild configure from configure.ac.\n\nIt would be nice if git would do what other packages do in this situation:\nship (probably in a \"m4\" or \"build-aux\" directory) all the non-standard\nm4 macros that the package requires.\n\nNote also that TYPE_SOCKLEN_T is the deprecated name of that macro, the\ncurrent version appears to be AX_TYPE_SOCKLEN_T. See:\n\n \thttp://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=autoconf-archive.git;a=blob_plain;f=m4/ax_type_socklen_t.m4\n\nIf possible, please consider including this macro in future versions of\nthe git releases.\n\nThanks!\n\nTim\n-- \nTim Mooney Tim.Mooney@ndsu.edu\nEnterprise Computing & Infrastructure 701-231-1076 (Voice)\nRoom 242-J6, IACC Building 701-231-8541 (Fax)\nNorth Dakota State University, Fargo, ND 58105-5164\n"},{"id":"229556","messageId":"8738nopetc.fsf@linux-k42r.v.cablecom.net","threadId":"35204","inReplyTo":"alpine.SOC.2.11.1310251814410.29200@dogbert.cc.ndsu.NoDak.edu","subject":"Improving git-scm.com/community [Re: git 1.8.4.1 configure should ship TYPE_SOCKLEN_T source macro]","fromName":"Thomas Rast","fromEmail":"tr@thomasrast.ch","sentAt":"2013-10-26T09:22:07Z","receivedAt":"2013-10-26T09:22:07Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"tr@thomasrast.ch","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/153510?v=4"},"body":"Tim Mooney <Tim.Mooney@ndsu.edu> writes:\n\n> [git-scm.com/community doesn't say whether the address for bug reports\n> allows posting by non-list members, so hopefully this makes it through\n> the moderation process]\n\nThe text is here:\n\n https://github.com/github/gitscm-next\n\nSo we can actively improve such things.
