However, it seems this example is not correct. I\nhave had several people try it on several different repositories, with\ndifferent git versions (specifically, 1.7 and 1.8) - and every time the\nprocess fails at the same moment with the same error message:\n\n$ git checkout -b master FETCH_HEAD\nfatal: Cannot update paths and switch to branch 'master' at the same time.\nDid you intend to checkout 'FETCH_HEAD' which can not be resolved as commit?\n\nTherefore, I believe the man page ought to be updated so that the example works again.\n\nIf you have any questions, please let me know (by direct e-mail - I am not subscribed to the mailing list).\n\nAll the best,\n-- \nMS\n"},{"id":"222687","messageId":"20130707021558.GC4193@google.com","threadId":"34293","inReplyTo":"20130628095442.3304163d@ifurita.qm.lan","subject":"Re: Possible error on the git-svn man page","fromName":"Jonathan Nieder","fromEmail":"jrnieder@gmail.com","sentAt":"2013-07-07T02:15:58Z","receivedAt":"2013-07-07T02:15:58Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jrnieder@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/281595?v=4"},"body":"Hi,\n\nSzuba, Marek (IKP) wrote:\n\n> On the git-svn(1) man page, the third example in the \"Basic Examples\"\n[...]\n> $ git checkout -b master FETCH_HEAD\n> fatal: Cannot update paths and switch to branch 'master' at the same time.\n> Did you intend to checkout 'FETCH_HEAD' which can not be resolved as commit?\n\nWhat branch are you on when you run \"git fetch\"?
