It appears that what you observed is exactly\nwhat should happen and in line with the documentation:\n\n$ git help fetch | sed -ne '/^ .*-t.*--tags/,/^$/p'\n -t, --tags\n This is a short-hand for giving \"refs/tags/:refs/tags/\" refspec\n from the command line, to ask all tags to be fetched and stored\n locally. Because this acts as an explicit refspec, the default\n refspecs (configured with the remote.$name.fetch variable) are\n overridden and not used.\n"},{"id":"205719","messageId":"50E23BC0.30504@gmail.com","threadId":"32491","inReplyTo":"7vbod9d7qg.fsf@alter.siamese.dyndns.org","subject":"Re: [BUG] git fetch --all --tags doesn't fetch remote branches, only tags","fromName":"Dennis Heidsiek","fromEmail":"dennis.heidsiek@gmail.com","sentAt":"2013-01-01T01:28:32Z","receivedAt":"2013-01-01T01:28:32Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"dennis.heidsiek@gmail.com","avatar":null},"body":"Dear Mr. Hamano,\n\n\nso i /did/ misunderstand the documentation – my fault.
