If I add a distributed VCS, the amount of disk space required will\nincrease significantly.\n\nDue to that, I started looking for an alternative VCS, such as svn, cvs.\nBut none of them satisfied me, mainly because they didn't have the branch\nconcept Git does.\n\nI read the bzr docs, and I found that was nearly what I wanted, except for\nthe branch concept git has. I am maybe explaining myself in the wrong way,\nbut I hope someone understands.\n\nWhat I would like, would be the posibility of having something like the\nhistory horizon in bzr, or the partial repos that git-annex provides. The\nidea is to have a repo with all the branches (just the head of them).\n\nAnother thing I would like to see would be being able to commit like git\nactually works. Though all the history wouldn't be available, making\ncommits offline would be a great thing, althought later, when pushing, they\nwould be just in the remote, getting erased from local.\n\nI tryed to achieve this through porcelain commands, but didn't work the few\nexamples I tryed.\n\nI know this breaks with Git's main philosophy, but that is something that\nwould be very great. For what I know, one of the bad things to deal with is\nthat the compression algorithm is thought for text files.\n\nI am looking for your answers,\n\nJavier Domingo\n"},{"id":"196232","messageId":"CAH-tXsCGxpqP+C2CiCCB88exMT6H3w0id-otFWPRXrhhreRfWg@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"31149","inReplyTo":"CALZVapkUu+hckMRAaNULSW5s9Q7P+78eVt1Q+ZrKFdPYb5uFVQ@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: Centralized git","fromName":"jaseem abid","fromEmail":"jaseemabid@gmail.com","sentAt":"2012-07-31T12:55:27Z","receivedAt":"2012-07-31T12:55:27Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jaseemabid@gmail.com","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/8b0432c96e4d3c8a9a96c9961ee842df7b7a869744da9c25187a51a992eabd81?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"On Tue, Jul 31, 2012 at 5:33 PM, Javier Domingo <javierdo1@gmail.com> wrote:\n>\n> I am currently planifying a 3D project, and I will be having large binary\n> files.
