For example:\n\ngit push origin master:master\n\nHowever, I will often make a typo like this:\n\ngit push origin master:msater\n\nI was thinking that it would be nice for git to support a new \noption/config value: --no-create-branch (push.createbranch).  This \nconfiguration variable\nwould forbid git from creating new remote branches, unless overriden \nwith --create-branch.\n\nDoes anyone think this would be worth implementing?  I'd like to take \nthe pulse of the community before I start making any modifications.\n\nThanks,\nRob Hoelz\n"},{"id":"189677","messageId":"7vk41cim4i.fsf@alter.siamese.dyndns.org","threadId":"30281","inReplyTo":"4F8F3A25.1080407@hoelz.ro","subject":"Re: Adding a new option to git-push: --(no-)create-branch","fromName":"Junio C Hamano","fromEmail":"gitster@pobox.com","sentAt":"2012-04-19T00:46:53Z","receivedAt":"2012-04-19T00:46:53Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"gitster@pobox.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/54884?v=4"},"body":"Rob Hoelz <rob@hoelz.ro> writes:\n\n> However, I will often make a typo like this:\n>\n> git push origin master:msater\n\nWhy isn't \"git push origin master\" explicit enough?\n"},{"id":"189684","messageId":"20120419084056.1a8c1540@hoelz.ro","threadId":"30281","inReplyTo":"7vk41cim4i.fsf@alter.siamese.dyndns.org","subject":"Re: Adding a new option to git-push: --(no-)create-branch","fromName":"Rob Hoelz","fromEmail":"rob@hoelz.ro","sentAt":"2012-04-19T06:40:56Z","receivedAt":"2012-04-19T06:40:56Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"rob@hoelz.ro","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/c62607c6cef695f7a6cbd0f1f3ebd359e8c471af271581a6d7e29e3fab6fb788?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"I suppose it would be...I may just need to retrain my fingers! =)\n\nOn Wed, 18 Apr 2012 17:46:53 -0700\nJunio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com> wrote:\n\n> Rob Hoelz <rob@hoelz.ro> writes:\n> \n> > However, I will often make a typo like this:\n> >\n> > git push origin master:msater\n> \n> Why isn't \"git push origin master\" explicit enough?\n> \n\n"}]}
