If we need something now it can be done in a matter of\nminutes, not sure of the feasibility of using it long term (I think it\ncould work long term, but I am not pushing for that at all).\n\nThere are numerous ways to export data from Confluence, but if we\nanticipate that being an issue we should investigate before using it.\n\nIn fact, it's so easy to enable the Wiki that I have gone ahead and\ndone so, in case you want to investigate it.\n\nRegards,\n\nAndrew Ardill\n"},{"id":"185872","messageId":"20120302005638.GC21835@sigill.intra.peff.net","threadId":"29805","inReplyTo":"201203020027.41016.jnareb@gmail.com","subject":"Re: Google Summer of Code 2012... and git wiki","fromName":"Jeff King","fromEmail":"peff@peff.net","sentAt":"2012-03-02T00:56:39Z","receivedAt":"2012-03-02T00:56:39Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"peff@peff.net","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/45925?v=4"},"body":"On Fri, Mar 02, 2012 at 12:27:40AM +0100, Jakub Narebski wrote:\n\n> Google Summer of Code 2012 has started.  The Git Development Community \n> has time till March 9 to submit organization application.\n> \n> The problem (beside finding volunteer for the position of GSoC \n> administrator) is that both GSoC application and ideas for GSoC \n> projects were hosted on Git Wiki... but Git Wiki is still only parially \n> functional, available only as static pages under changed URLs.\n\nI can be GSoC administrator again if nobody else wants to do it (and\nprobably Shawn as co-admin again). On my todo list for tonight is\nactually starting and posting a draft application.\n\nI'm perfectly happy if somebody else wants to take over the position.\nIt's mostly boring, and aside from coordinating the proposal ranking\nprocess, not even all that much work (the real work is done by the\nmentors).\n\n> I guess we can get by without having fully functional wiki for creating \n> application (if we decide to apply), but it would need a forum to send \n> ideas for GSoC projects and some place to publish them. Editable wiki \n> can work as both, though git mailing list and some static page (perhaps \n> home pages for git project on GitHub?) could also work.\n\nMy plan was to just solicit feedback from the mailing list. Though I\nthink I may throw the work into a repo or even a GitHub wiki to make\nsmall edits simpler for people who want to contribute. If last year is\nany indication, about 3-4 people will come up with comments. So just\ntaking patches or incorporating their suggestions manually would\nprobably be acceptable.\n\n> I don't know what are ETA on bringing Git Wiki fully up, but I doubt it \n> would be possible at http://git.wiki.kernel.org -- it is more than two \n> months since the event and wiki is not functional yet. So\nyou can choose whether to use the web interface or not.
