I updated and configured my svn client with ra_serf and\nthen I could use svn standalone again.\n\nWhen I went back to a git-svn project, I found that I could no longer\ninteract with the svn server via git-svn.  I tried recreate the\ngit-svn tree by blowing away my working copy and starting over:\n     git svn init --stdlayout https://<redacted>/svn/path/to/repo\nand got the familiar ssl error:\n    Initialized empty Git repository in /Volumes/foo/bar/.git/\n    RA layer request failed: OPTIONS of\n'https://<redacted>/svn/path/to/repo': SSL handshake failed: SSL\nerror: bad decompression (https://<redacted>) at\n/usr/local/Cellar/git/1.7.8.2/libexec/git-core/git-svn line 2299\n\n(Yes, I'm using MacOS Lion and Homebrew to install git).  So, it\nappears that the svn with the ra_serf is not being used by git-svn.\nObvious questions:\n    1) Can I force git to use \"my\" version of svn for git-svn?\n    2) If so, how / where is this configured?\n    3) If not, what else can I do to get git-svn to talk to my svn server?\n\nAfter looking at the respective versions, it appears that git svn\nshows svn version 1.6.16 and my svn (standalone) client shows svn\nversion 1.6.17 (and its associated RA modules):\n\n    $ git svn --version\n    git-svn version 1.7.8.2 (svn 1.6.16)\n    $ svn --version\nsvn, version 1.6.17 (r1128011)\n   compiled Aug 26 2011, 09:41:54\n\nCopyright (C) 2000-2009 CollabNet.\nSubversion is open source software, see http://subversion.apache.org/\nThis product includes software developed by CollabNet (http://www.Collab.Net/).\n\nThe following repository access (RA) modules are available:\n\n* ra_neon : Module for accessing a repository via WebDAV protocol using Neon.\n  - handles 'http' scheme\n  - handles 'https' scheme\n* ra_svn : Module for accessing a repository using the svn network protocol.\n  - with Cyrus SASL authentication\n  - handles 'svn' scheme\n* ra_local : Module for accessing a repository on local disk.\n  - handles 'file' scheme\n* ra_serf : Module for accessing a repository via WebDAV protocol using serf.\n  - handles 'http' scheme\n  - handles 'https' scheme\n\n$ which git\n/usr/local/bin/git\n$ which svn\n/opt/subversion/bin/svn\n\nSorry for the long post, but any help would be appreciated.  Doesn't\nseem to be a common problem (judging from lack of discussion on\ngoogle), so I'd appreciate any pointers, either to documentation about\ngit's svn path / configuration, problem tickets, or ways to determine\nif I've done something wonky to my environment to seriously confuse\ngit / svn.\n\nThanks!\n\n-Richard.\n"},{"id":"184941","messageId":"1329625504455-7298053.post@n2.nabble.com","threadId":"29642","inReplyTo":"CAJaBf=oFpNZ3gf=Oqj9415_WpMyAM=EYnW6R9cZCPteqSxnogQ@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: git-svn: simple user-level versions question, plus help request","fromName":"Nikolaus Demmel","fromEmail":"nikolaus@nikolaus-demmel.de","sentAt":"2012-02-19T04:25:04Z","receivedAt":"2012-02-19T04:25:04Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"nikolaus@nikolaus-demmel.de","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/2c9741b87d0f456387a06f577a904933d4614758202292a48ca1c739ebb48916?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"\nRichard Holmes wrote\n> \n> After looking at the respective versions, it appears that git svn\n> shows svn version 1.6.16 and my svn (standalone) client shows svn\n> version 1.6.17 (and its associated RA modules):\n> \n\nI'm not quite sure how everything fits together, but AFAIK git-svn uses the\nperl subversion module, meaning that you might possibly need to update\nthose.\n\nBest regards,\nNikolaus\n\n--\nView this message in context: http://git.661346.n2.nabble.com/git-svn-simple-user-level-versions-question-plus-help-request-tp7292358p7298053.html\nSent from the git mailing list archive at Nabble.com.\n"}]}
