Easier\n> to see which argument means what without staring at the manpage.\n> \"..[<branch>]\" without <upstream> implies --root.\n\nI do not offhand see a huge issue if you come up with a patch that allows\nusers to additionally say:\n\n    $ git rebase upstream..topic\n    $ git rebase --onto there upstream..topic\n\nwhat they express with\n\n    $ git rebase upstream topic\n    $ git rebase --onto there upstream topic\n\ntoday.\n\nHowever, \"git rebase ..topic\" to mean \"everything down to root from topic\"\nis not OK; lack of one side in dotted range defaults to HEAD everywhere\nelse and such a change will introduce a huge discrepancy.\n"}]}
