Yippie. ;-)\n\nLuckily most of the information I can get from our Git logs but I\nnoticed some \"anomalies\". The quotes are there because I do understand\n(or I think I do anyway) why those \"anomalies\" are there.\n\nAs an example, I ran (on master)\n\ngit log --since=\"01-Dec-2011\" --until=\"31-Dec-2011\"\n\nThe returned list of commits also included a few from November. I'm\nguessing that's because --since and --until simply determine a start\ncommit and an end commit in master and any commit that falls in that\nrange is included, whether its actual commit date is in the originally\nspecified date range or not.\n\nIs there a way to just get the commits made in December? (I can\nmanually go through the list, of course, [and that's probably what\nI'll do] but playing with Git is more fun than writing a report. ;-) )\n\nCheers,\nHilco\n"},{"id":"181947","messageId":"7v62grp0z4.fsf@alter.siamese.dyndns.org","threadId":"29294","inReplyTo":"CAE1pOi30FL+hRSqr3XRNgvOr4yBcTsbTpiNXpxJ=CN1Q=JVo3w@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: git log --since --until","fromName":"Junio C Hamano","fromEmail":"gitster@pobox.com","sentAt":"2012-01-04T22:16:47Z","receivedAt":"2012-01-04T22:16:47Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"gitster@pobox.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/54884?v=4"},"body":"Hilco Wijbenga <hilco.wijbenga@gmail.com> writes:\n\n> git log --since=\"01-Dec-2011\" --until=\"31-Dec-2011\"\n>\n> The returned list of commits also included a few from November.\n\nThese limits act on committer dates. I don't really care when the commit was merged into\nmaster (that's the committer date, right?), I want to know when the\nwork was done.\n\nI didn't really see any useful switches for git log in this regard but\nthen the author date seems to be additional data without special\nmeaning to Git.\n"},{"id":"181950","messageId":"7v1urfoz26.fsf@alter.siamese.dyndns.org","threadId":"29294","inReplyTo":"CAE1pOi2vi8WHFNg2+NJCWnQ_atnCTRKXyBDJJpA8GM6nHmj6HQ@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: git log --since --until","fromName":"Junio C Hamano","fromEmail":"gitster@pobox.com","sentAt":"2012-01-04T22:58:09Z","receivedAt":"2012-01-04T22:58:09Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"gitster@pobox.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/54884?v=4"},"body":"Hilco Wijbenga <hilco.wijbenga@gmail.com> writes:\n\n> ... the author date seems to be additional data without special\n> meaning to Git.\n\nThat is exactly correct.
