Basic development is on Windows platform (under\nCygwin). I have commit messages on Russian, so \ni18n.commitEncoding = i18n.logOutputtEncoding = cp1251. It's ok.\nI works fine on Windows.\nWhen I run on Windows \ngit log --graph --oneline\nand \ngit log --graph --pretty=format:'%C(yellow)%h %Creset%s'\n\nI get two identical outputs which look like\n* ae0a70f merge v2.6.54 into v3.0\n|\\ \n| * 581e071 + explicit changelog mail content-type (for claws-mail)...\n| * 9bafb65 fixed: changelog does not recognize Mantis...\n| * f417e91 fixed: #82 (Добавить в программу возможность...\n| * 8553efa fixed: #87 (2.6.53 Добавить для рассылки e-mail...\n....\n\nBut when I run the same commands (for the same repository and current\ncommit, of course) on Linux machine (ru_RU.UTF-8 locale; Guake,\nxterm, gnome-terminal, etc ) I get different outputs\n\ngit log --graph --oneline\ngives output identical to Windows (see above)\nbut\ngit log --graph --pretty=format:'%C(yellow)%h %Creset%s'\ngives\n* ae0a70f merge v2.6.54 into v3.0\n|\\ \n| * 581e071 + explicit changelog mail content-type (for claws-mail)...\n| * 9bafb65 fixed: changelog does not recognize Mantis...\n| * f417e91 fixed: #82 (<C4><EE><E1><E0><E2><E8><F2><FC>...\n| * 8553efa fixed: #87 (2.6.53<C4><EE><E1><E0><E2><E8><F2><FC>...\n\ni.e. non-UTF-8 characters are represented with their codes and not\nconverted to UTF-8 as they are for \"git log --graph --oneline\"\n\nSo, the question - why? I thought both commands use the same log output\nmechanism.\nAs I can edit Git sources but I'm not familiar to C well, so one\nmore question \"Where exactly in sources to fix it fast?\"\n\nThanks\n"},{"id":"171834","messageId":"loom.20110722T094944-284@post.gmane.org","threadId":"27883","inReplyTo":"20110722110618.10a62631@zappedws","subject":"Re: git log --oneline and git log --pretty=format... give differrent outputs","fromName":"Alexey Shumkin","fromEmail":"zapped@mail.ru","sentAt":"2011-07-22T07:53:04Z","receivedAt":"2011-07-22T07:53:04Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"alex.crezoff@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/1183752?v=4"},"body":"Oh!
