The usual guilty parties have been\nworking harder than usual during the holidays -- thanks to everyone\ninvolved!\n\nAs always, the updated API docs can be found at:\n\n\thttp://libgit2.github.com/libgit2/\n\nNEW FEATURES:\n\n\t- New OS abstraction layer. This should make all POSIX calls much\n\tmore reliable under Windows.\n\n\t- Much faster writes of simple objects (commits, tags, trees) to the\n\tODB via in-memory buffering and direct writes, instead of streaming.\n\n\t- Unified & simplified API for object creation. All the `create`\n\tmethods now take Objects instead of OIDs to ensure that corrupted\n\t(dangling) objects cannot be created on the repository.\n\n\t- Fully Git-compilant reference renaming (finally!), with\n\tthe already existing `git_reference_rename`.\n\n\t- Deletion of config keys with `git_config_delete`\n\n\t- Greatly improved index performance when adding new entries\n\n\t- Reflog support with the `git_reflog` API\n\n\t- Remotes support with the `git_remote` API\n\n\t- First parts of the Networking API, including refspecs and\n\tthe transport abstraction layer. (Note that there are no actual\n\ttransports implemented yet)\n\n\t- Status support with the `git_status_foreach` and `git_status_file`\n\tfunctions.\n\n\t- Tons of bugfixes, including the outstanding bug #127 (wrong sort\n\tordering when querying tree entries).\n\nKNOWN ISSUES:\n\n\t- The reference renaming code leaks memory. This is being worked on\n\tas part of a reference handling overhaul.\n\n\t- The tree-from-index builder has abysmal performance because it\n\tdoesn't handle the Treecache extension yet.
