The whole\nwebsite would be divided in different directories. I have the webroot\nin /home/carlo/public_html/ directory. Here I have an index.php, the\ncss files and images. Then, outside this directory, I have the\napplication folder with all the real php stuff. Suppose it is in\n/home/carlo/ci/application.\n\nI have the same configuration on the server. So, the workflow would be\nthat I work on my local machine, I change something in the application\nfolder, then something in some css file and then I have to sync\neverything with the server. I can have two repositories, one for the\nfolder in the webroot and another one for the application folder, but\nthen I'd have to push twice. Is there a better or a good way to do all\nthis?\n\nThanks,\nCarlo\n"},{"id":"171051","messageId":"20110711134456.GA45560@sherwood.local","threadId":"27785","inReplyTo":"CABU6SG5uLXAsu0yXa1cmPAmte3WnsjaHN0r_D4c8C7W2tKJDHw@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: repository in different directories","fromName":"Steve Muadib","fromEmail":"s.muadib@googlemail.com","sentAt":"2011-07-11T13:44:56Z","receivedAt":"2011-07-11T13:44:56Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"s.muadib@googlemail.com","avatar":null},"body":"# Carlo Trimarchi <mr.spoon21@gmail.com> writes:\n> Is there a better or a good way to do all this?\n> \n> Thanks,\n\nYeah: use static webpages without images. :-)\n\nAh, and for wrong: how about using one repository and setting up\na commit hook to move files to final places?\n\nRegards...\n"},{"id":"171052","messageId":"CABU6SG4=UiuM7Q1RkXxR1oJKP72Sk69Awq09+64VOra3ds5hmA@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"27785","inReplyTo":"CACwv2A=d44+txUGGDxJRFHVps-eT5g_mWyA-WaKTXyyUFgix7g@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: repository in different directories","fromName":"Carlo Trimarchi","fromEmail":"mr.spoon21@gmail.com","sentAt":"2011-07-11T14:07:10Z","receivedAt":"2011-07-11T14:07:10Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"mr.spoon21@gmail.com","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/dd14cc2f79de3b58a3301a3b6f5ea4f0e72c79172d1dc919eb08016830e57c9e?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"On 11 July 2011 16:01, Allen Fogleson <afogleson@gmail.com> wrote:\n> Why not just make /home/carlo the repository, it has all the right folder\n> structure, then from the server you can pull, or you can git archive when\n> ready to release and unarchive on the server\n\nbecause I'm working on different applications and I need a repository\nfor each one of them\n\nSteve Muadib\n>Ah, and for wrong: how about using one repository and setting up\n>a commit hook to move files to final places?\n\nthe commit hook should stay in the local or the remote machine?\n"},{"id":"171181","messageId":"A5E8E180685CEF45AB9E737A0107998009CB9B@cdnz-ex1.corp.cubic.cub","threadId":"27785","inReplyTo":"CABU6SG4=UiuM7Q1RkXxR1oJKP72Sk69Awq09+64VOra3ds5hmA@mail.gmail.com","subject":"RE: repository in different directories","fromName":"Holding, Lawrence","fromEmail":"lawrence.holding@cubic.com","sentAt":"2011-07-12T19:29:04Z","receivedAt":"2011-07-12T19:29:04Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"lawrence.holding@cubic.com","avatar":null},"body":"On your machine and the server make hard links from the folders in the repository to the destination folders, that way when you check out the latest version then both locations are updated.\n\nSo have \n/home/carlo/dev.repo/.git\n/home/carlo/dev.repo/public_html/ linked to /home/carlo/public_html/\n/home/carlo/dev.repo/applications/ linked to /home/carlo/ci/application\n\nyou can then work in the same place as usual, but do your commits from the dev.repo folder.\n\nMy $0.02 solution.\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: git-owner@vger.kernel.org [mailto:git-owner@vger.kernel.org] On Behalf Of Carlo Trimarchi\nSent: Tuesday, 12 July 2011 02:07\nTo: Allen Fogleson\nCc: git@vger.kernel.org\nSubject: Re: repository in different directories\n\nOn 11 July 2011 16:01, Allen Fogleson <afogleson@gmail.com> wrote:\n> Why not just make /home/carlo the repository, it has all the right folder\n> structure, then from the server you can pull, or you can git archive when\n> ready to release and unarchive on the server\n\nbecause I'm working on different applications and I need a repository\nfor each one of them\n\nSteve Muadib\n>Ah, and for wrong: how about using one repository and setting up\n>a commit hook to move files to final places?\n\nthe commit hook should stay in the local or the remote machine?\n--\nTo unsubscribe from this list: send the line \"unsubscribe git\" in\nthe body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org\nMore majordomo info at  http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html\n"}]}
