After trying out various\nforms of --abort, I've decided to drop all UI and just write\n\"infrastructure code\" for the moment, and letting end users decide the\nshortcuts for themselves. Among the various suggestions, I especially\nliked Jonathan's --edit solution where the user gets a copy of the\nentire instruction sheet (not just commands left to execute) to edit\nas she pleases [1]. I've just started working on this. I might like\nto send a quick series based on my earlier series for inclusion, but I\ncan't figure out a good subset: Everything until \"revert: Catch\nincompatible command-line options early\" might be a candidate for a\nsimple revert-cleanup series, but most of the motivation for the\ncleanup comes from the sequencer needing it.\n\nThanks for reading.\n\n-- Ram\n\n[1]: http://mid.gmane.org/20110611112213.GA25268@elie\n"},{"id":"169978","messageId":"20110614053143.GA24882@elie","threadId":"27616","inReplyTo":"BANLkTinxx5qFuhwsUt3JeXOO7TjBj8wFvw@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: [GSoC update] Sequencer: Debating the UI","fromName":"Jonathan Nieder","fromEmail":"jrnieder@gmail.com","sentAt":"2011-06-14T05:31:43Z","receivedAt":"2011-06-14T05:31:43Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jrnieder@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/281595?v=4"},"body":"Ramkumar Ramachandra wrote:\n\n> I might like\n> to send a quick series based on my earlier series for inclusion, but I\n> can't figure out a good subset:\n\nI would love to use a working \"cherry-pick --continue\". :) I would\nuse it like this:\n\n\t$ : grumble, grumble, source package format that requires a\n\t$ : tarball followed by a linear sequence of patches\n\t$ git checkout -b release+patches v1.0\n\t$ git cherry-pick --no-merges -x -s HEAD..origin/master\n\t... ticks away for a while, then presents a conflict\n\t$ git diff; fix fix fix; git add -u; make test; git commit -v\n\t$ git cherry-pick --continue\n\t...\n\n\t$ git diff origin/master; # matches up? good.\n\t$ git format-patch -k --patience -o patches v1.0..HEAD\n\nSpeaking of which, do you have a git tree that testers should use /\nsend patches against?
