The answer is, on (a) one of the free hosting \nservices like GitHub (if your project is public), (b) one of the pay \nservices (like GitHub), or (c) your own Unix server. I use (a) and (c).\n\nYou shouldn't be hosting a Git repository on a file-based \nsynchronization service. It's asking for trouble.\n\nJosh\n"},{"id":"164431","messageId":"AANLkTik19360G7t_cjimCFOAURnuJEA3ztnu3VACWLNV@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"26884","inReplyTo":"AANLkTimFKGrSCgBShtERaGfd=9y+=q-aHsN3u5Lvf52v@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: Reduce number of changes to pack file.","fromName":"Santi Béjar","fromEmail":"santi@agolina.net","sentAt":"2011-03-28T13:40:20Z","receivedAt":"2011-03-28T13:40:20Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"santi@agolina.net","avatar":null},"body":"On Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 5:33 AM, Chandra Sukiman <tmcchandra@gmail.com> wrote:\n> Hi,\n>\n> I am using git with Dropbox (see\n> http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1960799/using-gitdropbox-together-effectively).\n> Basically I created a bare repository at dropbox and everyone uses\n> that for central repository.\n> As the repository size is getting bigger, sometime during the git gc,\n> it will create a huge .pack file (300 mb) which need to be uploaded\n> and downloaded by everyone.\n> I tried to limit the size of the pack to 10m (pack.packSizeLimit =\n> 10m), but when doing gc, what happens now is that most of the pack\n> files will get re-arranged and modified.
