I'm currently at 1.6.1.  So, ok... I pulled down the newest copy and tried to build it and I died with:\n\nmake\n    SUBDIR perl\n    SUBDIR git_remote_helpers\ngmake[1]: /usr/bin/python: Command not found\ngmake[1]: *** [all] Error 127\ngmake: *** [all] Error 2\n\nI don't have python and even if I did, it would not be in /usr/bin.  Does git now depend upon Python?  That is such a lame language... I hope not.  Is there any way to build git without python?  If I have to get Python -- which Python.  My biggest complaint with Python is it is so incompatible with itself.\n\nI can't find how to subscribe to this list so please remember to CC me on any replies.\n\nThank you,\nPerry\n"},{"id":"162464","messageId":"4D6BF625.70107@dbservice.com","threadId":"26621","inReplyTo":"EFD0AEC9-BEF8-412C-920F-DE6FAADBA544@gmail.com","subject":"Re: AIX problems","fromName":"Tomas Carnecky","fromEmail":"tom@dbservice.com","sentAt":"2011-02-28T19:23:17Z","receivedAt":"2011-02-28T19:23:17Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"tom@dbservice.com","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/900a300bdd1a8bbe086008ad78210bbee2ad2803b7d50a5cba04c1e9404bd6d2?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"On 2/28/11 8:16 PM, Perry Smith wrote:\n> make\n>      SUBDIR perl\n>      SUBDIR git_remote_helpers\n> gmake[1]: /usr/bin/python: Command not found\n> gmake[1]: *** [all] Error 127\n> gmake: *** [all] Error 2\n\n$ make NO_PYTHON=YesPlease\n\ntom\n"}]}
