The idea is\nthat after I am convinced that my changes in my development repo are\nstable enough I push them to the build repo using git push.\n\nThis seems to work and I can see my changes when doing a git log from\nthe build repo. However, the actual working files have not been\nupdated nor can I figure out any way to get them updated. For instance\nI have tried deleting one of the files that should be changed and then\ndoing a git checkout <file>. The changes are still not present. I have\ntried doing a git reset --hard HEAD. The file still doesn't contain\nthe changes. I have even tried checking out a different branch in the\nbuild repo and then re-checking out the master that should have those\nchanges. Still nothing.\n\nWhat's the proper technique for making sure you see the actual changes\nthat were pushed to a repo?\n\nThis is debian lenny with git version 1.5.6.5.\n\nTIA,\n-Harry\n"},{"id":"159676","messageId":"AANLkTik5QOoWNjUP8LvRE=AmiAtmchc8NND9aKDe2svR@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"26310","inReplyTo":"AANLkTi=X8PURGSX5ODHpXACUWuA0oioTkeNEmRVnkx1D@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: Noob question regarding git push","fromName":"Sverre Rabbelier","fromEmail":"srabbelier@gmail.com","sentAt":"2011-01-19T22:50:27Z","receivedAt":"2011-01-19T22:50:27Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"srabbelier@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/3098?v=4"},"body":"Heya,\n\nOn Wed, Jan 19, 2011 at 23:30, Harry Johnson <hjohnson@viasic.com> wrote:\n> What's the proper technique for making sure you see the actual changes\n> that were pushed to a repo?\n\nI think this is the FAQ you want:\n\nhttps://git.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/GitFaq#Why_won.27t_I_see_changes_in_the_remote_repo_after_.22git_push.22.3F\n\n\n-- \nCheers,\n\nSverre Rabbelier\n"},{"id":"159677","messageId":"7vlj2gsdsm.fsf@alter.siamese.dyndns.org","threadId":"26310","inReplyTo":"AANLkTi=X8PURGSX5ODHpXACUWuA0oioTkeNEmRVnkx1D@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: Noob question regarding git push","fromName":"Junio C Hamano","fromEmail":"gitster@pobox.com","sentAt":"2011-01-19T22:56:41Z","receivedAt":"2011-01-19T22:56:41Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"gitster@pobox.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/54884?v=4"},"body":"Harry Johnson <hjohnson@viasic.com> writes:\n\n> This seems to work and I can see my changes when doing a git log from\n> the build repo.
