And depending on the order, it either\ndoes nothing, or causes a usage note.\n\nIs this intentional? If so, could it be reconsidered? At the very\nleast in combination with --name-status and by itself, I can kind of\nunderstand it not working with --numstat\n\nIve tested with two gits, and it seems to be the same in both:\n\ngit version 1.7.2.1 and git version 1.7.3.2.168.gd6b63\n\nCheers,\nyves\n\n$ git diff --summary --stat HEAD^\n somefile | 14 ++++++++++++--\n 1 files changed, 12 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-)\n$ git diff --summary HEAD^\n$ git diff --summary --numstat HEAD^\n12 2 somefile\n$ git diff --summary --name-status HEAD^\nM somefile\n$ git diff --name-status --sumary HEAD^\nusage: git diff <options> <rev>{0,2} -- <path>*\n$ git diff --numstat --sumary HEAD^\nusage: git diff <options> <rev>{0,2} -- <path>*\n\n\n\n-- \nperl -Mre=debug -e \"/just|another|perl|hacker/\"\n"},{"id":"157430","messageId":"20101206210304.GA9735@burratino","threadId":"25976","inReplyTo":"AANLkTimCAy8kcQaKNaxz4UJp2ZB=_HeRMmeaQ5ZHNV4g@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: git diff --summary only seems to work when combined with --stat","fromName":"Jonathan Nieder","fromEmail":"jrnieder@gmail.com","sentAt":"2010-12-06T21:03:04Z","receivedAt":"2010-12-06T21:03:04Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jrnieder@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/281595?v=4"},"body":"Hi Yves,\n\ndemerphq wrote:\n\n> It seems like the --summary option only works in combination --stat.\n> \n> It doesn't seem to work if I use it by itself, nor in combination with\n> --name-status or --num-stat.
