You can install VirtualBox + Linux\nfor free and do it there. If you're doing a one-time conversion of\na one-branch repository, it works pretty well.\n\nOnce Bazaar and the bzr-fastimport plugin are installed, you mostly need\nto run those commands :\n\n    git init project\n    cd project\n    bzr fast-export --export-marks=../bzr.mark /path/to/old/bzr/project\n| git-fast-import --export-marks=../git.mark\n\nyou now have, in the new git project, a \"master\" branch with all the\nhistory from the bzr repository and all tags.\n\n-- \nGabriel Filion\n"},{"id":"156099","messageId":"AANLkTimm2unZoUNH=wgnAFjPpeF_C=tJAZ0DkNK4mMv_@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"25764","inReplyTo":"4CE32062.6010308@gmail.com","subject":"Re: How to import bzr repository into git","fromName":"Dmitri Pissarenko","fromEmail":"dmitri.pissarenko@gmail.com","sentAt":"2010-11-18T14:34:55Z","receivedAt":"2010-11-18T14:34:55Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"dmitri.pissarenko@gmail.com","avatar":null},"body":"Hello!\n\nThanks for your answers!\n\nHowever, I had to give up this idea due to an \"out of memory\" error\nduring bzr-export.\n\nBest regards\n\nDmitri\n"},{"id":"156102","messageId":"AANLkTikLt+=ffsqY1=-fN49fVZ_Q4HVWnzn5qSftg=T3@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"25764","inReplyTo":"AANLkTimm2unZoUNH=wgnAFjPpeF_C=tJAZ0DkNK4mMv_@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: How to import bzr repository into git","fromName":"Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason","fromEmail":"avarab@gmail.com","sentAt":"2010-11-18T15:25:28Z","receivedAt":"2010-11-18T15:25:28Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"avarab@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/45301?v=4"},"body":"On Thu, Nov 18, 2010 at 15:34, Dmitri Pissarenko\n<dmitri.pissarenko@gmail.com> wrote:\n> However, I had to give up this idea due to an \"out of memory\" error\n> during bzr-export.\n\nBuy more memory or use more swap?\n"},{"id":"156109","messageId":"20101118163702.GA16610@burratino","threadId":"25764","inReplyTo":"AANLkTikLt+=ffsqY1=-fN49fVZ_Q4HVWnzn5qSftg=T3@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: How to import bzr repository into git","fromName":"Jonathan Nieder","fromEmail":"jrnieder@gmail.com","sentAt":"2010-11-18T16:37:03Z","receivedAt":"2010-11-18T16:37:03Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jrnieder@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/281595?v=4"},"body":"Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason wrote:\n> On Thu, Nov 18, 2010 at 15:34, Dmitri Pissarenko\n> <dmitri.pissarenko@gmail.com> wrote:\n\n>> However, I had to give up this idea due to an \"out of memory\" error\n>> during bzr-export.\n>\n> Buy more memory or use more swap?\n\nOr report it as a bug/wanted feature?\n\nCc-ing Jelmer Vernooij in the hope that he might be able to point you\nto the right person for that.\n\nThanks,\nJonathan\n"},{"id":"156110","messageId":"20101118163851.GB16610@burratino","threadId":"25764","inReplyTo":"20101118163702.GA16610@burratino","subject":"Re: How to import bzr repository into git","fromName":"Jonathan Nieder","fromEmail":"jrnieder@gmail.com","sentAt":"2010-11-18T16:38:51Z","receivedAt":"2010-11-18T16:38:51Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jrnieder@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/281595?v=4"},"body":"Jonathan Nieder wrote:\n> Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason wrote:\n>> On Thu, Nov 18, 2010 at 15:34, Dmitri Pissarenko\n>> <dmitri.pissarenko@gmail.com> wrote:\n\n>>> However, I had to give up this idea due to an \"out of memory\" error\n>>> during bzr-export.\n>>\n>> Buy more memory or use more swap?\n>\n> Or report it as a bug/wanted feature?\n> \n> Cc-ing Jelmer Vernooij in the hope that he might be able to point\n> to the right person for that.\n\nThis time with a valid email address (sorry for the noise).\n"},{"id":"156217","messageId":"4CE6ED53.7060900@gmail.com","threadId":"25764","inReplyTo":"20101118163851.GB16610@burratino","subject":"Re: How to import bzr repository into git","fromName":"Gabriel Filion","fromEmail":"lelutin@gmail.com","sentAt":"2010-11-19T21:34:11Z","receivedAt":"2010-11-19T21:34:11Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"lelutin@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/108728?v=4"},"body":"On 11/18/2010 11:38 AM, Jonathan Nieder wrote:\n> Jonathan Nieder wrote:\n>> Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason wrote:\n>>> On Thu, Nov 18, 2010 at 15:34, Dmitri Pissarenko\n>>> <dmitri.pissarenko@gmail.com> wrote:\n> \n>>>> However, I had to give up this idea due to an \"out of memory\" error\n>>>> during bzr-export.\n>>>\n>>> Buy more memory or use more swap?\n>>\n>> Or report it as a bug/wanted feature?\n>>\n>> Cc-ing Jelmer Vernooij in the hope that he might be able to point\n>> to the right person for that.\n> \n> This time with a valid email address (sorry for the noise).\n\nright! I did see this with this particular workflow:\n\nbzr branch lp:bzr\ngit init bzr.git\ncd bzr.git\nbzr fast-export ../bzr | git fast-import\n\n\nthe weird thing is that using fastimport directly with the lp:bzr\naddress (not \"logged in\" to launchpad, so in practice via HTTP) instead\nof a local copy of the directory took a very long time but worked.\n\nSo I guess there's probably a memory leak when using local files.\n\n\nother than bzr-fastimport, there is also bzr-git, which seems to support\nsome form of pushing (bzr dpush).\n\nThere are also mentions, in different discussions, of tailor:\n\nhttp://wiki.darcs.net/RelatedSoftware/Tailor\n\nAnd finally, the git wiki mentions BzrToGit\n\nhttps://git.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Interfaces,_frontends,_and_tools#BzrToGit\n\nHowever, I have not thoroughly tested these tools and I have yet to find\nsomething that works right in all cases. If you give these tools a try,\nI'd be glad to hear about your experience with them.\n\n-- \nGabriel Filion\n"}]}
