That's what I do when\nvirus-checking multiple webspaces and not wanting routine output unless\nthere's a problem. If the return value (to the shell) is something other\nthan zero then I return all of the output I captured to the user (and\ntherefore it gets mailed to me by cron).\n\n-- \n-Drew Northup N1XIM\n   AKA RvnPhnx on OPN\n________________________________________________\n\"As opposed to vegetable or mineral error?\"\n-John Pescatore, SANS NewsBites Vol. 12 Num. 59\n"},{"id":"153993","messageId":"AANLkTik3GndR27OH-dtmQ7w4dbnACymxunvZ3=PNbQxT@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"25505","inReplyTo":"20101021181906.GA28700@nibiru.local","subject":"Re: Make git-push silent","fromName":"David Borowitz","fromEmail":"dborowitz@google.com","sentAt":"2010-10-21T18:49:15Z","receivedAt":"2010-10-21T18:49:15Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"dborowitz@google.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/194927?v=4"},"body":"On Thu, Oct 21, 2010 at 11:19, Enrico Weigelt <weigelt@metux.de> wrote:\n>\n> Hi folks,\n>\n>\n> is there a way to make git-push silent in a way that it only\n> outputs something in case of error ?\n>\n> I'm using it as a backup tool via cron scripts, and therefore I\n> dont want any output when everything went okay.\n\nNot a solution on the git front, but I use cronic[1] to do this with\narbitrary cron scripts (including some that do git pull/fetch). It\ntraps all script output and is silent unless it encounters a nonzero\nreturn code.\n[1] http://habilis.net/cronic/\n\n>\n> If there's no such a feature/switch yet, could anyone give me\n> a hint where/how to implement this ?\n>\n>\n> thx\n> --\n> ----------------------------------------------------------------------\n>  Enrico Weigelt, metux IT service -- http://www.metux.de/\n>\n>  phone:  +49 36207 519931  email: weigelt@metux.de\n>  mobile: +49 151 27565287  icq:   210169427         skype: nekrad666\n> ----------------------------------------------------------------------\n>  Embedded-Linux / Portierung / Opensource-QM / Verteilte Systeme\n> ----------------------------------------------------------------------\n> --\n> To unsubscribe from this list: send the line \"unsubscribe git\" in\n> the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org\n> More majordomo info at  http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html\n"}]}
