However, I don't want to distribute EVERY file in the\nrepository, but I *would* like to distribute the full set of changes for\nthose files I do plan to release.\n\nI'm having some trouble figuring out how to do this.  I assumed I'd create a\nnew repository and then use git pull to merge the directories I want in my\ndistribution repository.  I can't seem to find a way to specify what files I\nwant though.\n\nLet's say I had a repository called stuff, with directories a, b, and c.  I\nwant to make a distribution repository containing just a and b, but with\nfull histories so a \"git pull\" will sync from the stuff repository, but\nignore the \"c\" directory.\n\nAny suggestions?\n\nThanks!\n-- \nView this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/Partial-clone-pull--tp29220205p29220205.html\nSent from the git mailing list archive at Nabble.com.\n"},{"id":"145910","messageId":"AANLkTik6nn0bjQkysY9kfk3rZNKT-CNKtf9BA8MlzGZ1@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"24450","inReplyTo":"29220205.post@talk.nabble.com","subject":"Re: Partial clone/pull?","fromName":"Avery Pennarun","fromEmail":"apenwarr@gmail.com","sentAt":"2010-07-20T22:38:04Z","receivedAt":"2010-07-20T22:38:04Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"apenwarr@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/20592?v=4"},"body":"On Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 6:15 PM, Dread Quixadhal <quixadhal@yahoo.com> wrote:\n> I'm having some trouble figuring out how to do this.  I assumed I'd create a\n> new repository and then use git pull to merge the directories I want in my\n> distribution repository.  I can't seem to find a way to specify what files I\n> want though.\n>\n> Let's say I had a repository called stuff, with directories a, b, and c.  I\n> want to make a distribution repository containing just a and b, but with\n> full histories so a \"git pull\" will sync from the stuff repository, but\n> ignore the \"c\" directory.\n\nThis is not a particularly easy thing to do in git.  git-subtree is a\npartial solution:\nhttp://github.com/apenwarr/git-subtree\n\nHave fun,\n\nAvery\n"}]}
