Typical examples of values for this\n> would be:\n>   - C:\\Program Files\\TortoiseGit\\bin\\TortoisePLink.exe  if he chooses to use\n> TortoiseGit's plink\n>   - C:\\Program Files\\Putty\\plink.exe if he chooses to use putty\n>\n> I understand he is using TortoiseGit, so he would have to use the first\n> option and then open 'Start' > 'All Programs' > 'TortoiseGit' > Puttygen\n>\n> Then click on 'Generate' and follow instructions.\n>\n> Once he has created his public key, he has to load it after each reboot,\n> using 'Start' > 'All Programs' > 'TortoiseGit' > 'Pageant'.\n> He will then be prompted to locate his public key and then to enter the\n> password that protects it.\n> If he wants pageant to point directly to his certificate he can create a\n> link and specify as target:\n> \"C:\\Program Files\\TortoiseGit\\bin\\pageant.exe\" \"PATH/TO/MY/public_key.ppk\"\n> changing of course the paths to reflect his own values.\n>\n> Hope this helps. Just let me know if you need more information.\n>\n> matías pizarro\n\nThanks Matías,\n\nIt *almost* worked. We couldn't get the key pairs to work though. What\nwe had to do was to generate the keypair on a linux box and transfer\nthe private key to the windows box. We couldn't figure out how to\ngenerate the right type of keys and that was just easier. Problem\nsolved :)\n\nHoward\n"}]}
