A tag is just a\npointer on some commit (annotated tag contains additional information\nsuch as creater, data, message), in any case, it has no direct relation\nto any branch.\n\n> when I click on that commit, it doesn't have precedes or\n> follows information. Is this by design?\n\nTags do not store any precedes or follows information, no matter how you\ncreated them, but visualization tools can look at the tree and display\nwhat was before some commit and what was after it. Without seeing your\ntree, it is impossible to tell whether gitk (or what you use?) displayed\nthat correctly or not.\n\n\nDmitry\n"},{"id":"126586","messageId":"1257167788750-3931717.post@n2.nabble.com","threadId":"21401","inReplyTo":"20091102130919.GB27126@dpotapov.dyndns.org","subject":"Re: Headless tags don't have a follows or precedes?","fromName":"Tim Mazid","fromEmail":"timmazid@hotmail.com","sentAt":"2009-11-02T13:16:28Z","receivedAt":"2009-11-02T13:16:28Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"timmazid@hotmail.com","avatar":null},"body":"\n\nDmitry Potapov wrote:\n> \n> I have never heard tag being described as headless... Same thing.\nLike you're always bothered to say \"the commit that the tag v1 points to\"\nrather than \"the v1 tag\".\nAlso, see my post above.\n-- \nView this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Headless-tags-don-t-have-a-follows-or-precedes-tp3926483p3931717.html\nSent from the git mailing list archive at Nabble.com.\n"}]}
