So, I was reminded to mention it here...\n\nThe Pitch\n=========\n\nDo you use git? You wouldn't be reading this list if you didn't. Do you\nuse Bugzilla? No? You can stop here.\n\nSince you use Git and you use Bugzilla, you want to use git-bz.\n\nSetup:\n\n git config --global bz.default-tracker bugzilla.example.com\n # in some module\n git config bz.default-product TiddlyWinks\n git config bz.default-component AI-Engine\n\nFile a new bug with a commit attached as a patch, rewrite the commit\nmessage to include the URL of the newly filed bug:\n\n git bz file -u HEAD\n\nAttach a series of commits to an existing bug, bringing each up in\nan editor to allow editing the comment and picking old patches to\nobsolete:\n\n git bz attach -e 43215 HEAD~3..\n\nApply patches already attached to an existing bug to a local branch:\n\n git bz apply http://bugzilla.example.com/show_bug.cgi?34132\n\nGetting It\n==========\n\n The script: http://git.fishsoup.net/cgit/git-bz/plain/git-bz\n CGIT: http://git.fishsoup.net/cgit/git-bz\n clone: git://git.fishsoup.net/git-bz\n\nIt's a standalone Python script, no dependencies, so you can just copy it\nor symlink it somewhere in your path.\n\nNotes\n=====\n\n * Yes, it's in Python.\n\n * It should work with most Bugzilla installations\n\n * There are some nice things that could be added - support for automatically\n creating a branch when applying patches from a bug locally, 'git bz close'\n to push patches and close the corresponding Bugzilla bugs, and so forth.\n\n It's pretty good as is.\n\n * The utility of attaching patches to Bugzilla is probably greatest \n in a shared-central repository workflow. If all contributors already \n are publishing all changes to personal public repositories, then attaching \n them to Bugzilla in addition may not make sense.\n\n Tracking merge requests would require a quite different form of Bugzilla\n integration (probably server side)\n\n * It used to be command-line compatible with git-format-patch for the handling\n of 'git bz file <revision>' - but I switched it at some point so you didn't\n need to add '-1' to file a single commit. Still undecided if it's better\n to be obvious or to be compatible.\n"},{"id":"122081","messageId":"m3fxbbkpq5.fsf@localhost.localdomain","threadId":"20780","inReplyTo":"1251512664.666.349.camel@localhost.localdomain","subject":"Re: git-bz: command line integration for bugzilla","fromName":"Jakub Narebski","fromEmail":"jnareb@gmail.com","sentAt":"2009-08-29T08:07:38Z","receivedAt":"2009-08-29T08:07:38Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jnareb@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/2706?v=4"},"body":"Owen Taylor <otaylor@redhat.com> writes:\n\n> Was filling out the Git user's survey today, and noticed that my git-bz\n> tool wasn't on the long list of \"Git interfaces, implementations,\n> frontends and tools\" \n\nWell, you can always add it in \"Other (please specify)\" in survey\n\n> - but then again, I've never really advertised it\n> beyond GNOME IRC.
