See \"Why does \n make often crash creating a sh.exe.stackdump file when I try to compile \n my source code?\" on the MinGW Wiki \n (http://www.mingw.org/wiki/Environment_issues)\n- The Quick Launch icon will only be installed for the user running setup \n (typically the Administrator). Otherwise MSys will mangle \n the path.\n- git and bash have serious problems with non-ASCII file names (Issue 80, \n 159).\n- If configured to use plink, you will have to connect with putty first.\n- MinGW does not support IPv6 yet (Issue 182). \n- When run from cmd.exe instead of Git Bash, some characters seem to be \n \"swallowed\" from Git's output (Issue 192).\n- There are a spurious write errors during rebase (Issue 200) that seem \n not to be reproducible on most computers.\n- As merge tools are executed using the MSys bash, options starting with \n \"/\" need to be handled specially: MSys would interpret that as a POSIX \n path, so you need to double the slash (Issue 226). Example: instead of \n \"/base\", say \"//base\".\n- Also, extra care has to be paid to pass Windows programs Windows paths, \n as they have no clue about MSys style POSIX paths -- You can use \n something like $(cmd //c echo \"$POSIXPATH\").\n\nChanges since Git-1.6.3-preview20090507\n\nNew Features\n- Comes with official git 1.6.3.2.\n- Uses TortoisePlink instead of Plink if available.\n\nBugfixes\n- Plink errors out rather than hanging when the user needs to accept a \n host key first (Issue 96).\n- The user home directory is inferred from $HOMEDRIVE\\$HOMEPATH instead of \n $HOME (Issue 108).\n- The environment setting $CYGWIN=tty is ignored (Issues 138, 248 and \n 251).\n- The \"ls\" command shows non-ASCII filenames correctly now (Issue 188).\n- Adds more syntax files for vi (Issue 250).\n- $HOME/.bashrc is included last from /etc/profile, allowing .bashrc to \n override all settings in /etc/profile (Issue 255).\n- Completion is case-insensitive again (Issue 256).\n- The \"start\" command can handle arguments with spaces now (Issue 258).\n- For some Git commands (such as \"git commit\"), vi no longer \"restores\" \n the cursor position.\n"},{"id":"115789","messageId":"13638.77.61.241.211.1244455293.squirrel@hupie.xs4all.nl","threadId":"19725","inReplyTo":"alpine.DEB.1.00.0906071629460.26154@pacific.mpi-cbg.de","subject":"Re: Git for Windows 1.6.3.2","fromName":"Ferry Huberts (Pelagic)","fromEmail":"ferry.huberts@pelagic.nl","sentAt":"2009-06-08T10:01:32Z","receivedAt":"2009-06-08T10:01:32Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"ferry.huberts@pelagic.nl","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/9f63c0289ad23cbdef0f7609a0af85ff0f4b3babfd066de9ff58f62d48cfd6f2?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"Hi,\n\nI just installed it and it seems that ~ now points to /c ...\nwhich is odd and break stuff.\n\nIs this expected or a bug?\nOr am I doing something wrong?\n\nI installed default: using git bash, unix line endings, ssh, etc\n\n-- \nFerry Huberts\n\n\n\nOn Sun, June 7, 2009 16:33, Johannes Schindelin wrote:\n> Hi,\n>\n> this mail informs you that Git for Windows 1.6.3.2 is out.
