Which svn branch should become master\nthen?\n\nWith that said, you're not the first person to be surprised by this;\nI'm sure you could patch git svn to tell you which svn branch it was\nchecking out.  It'd probably be a pretty simple tweak, but\nunfortunately I'm not in a position to do it currently.\n\nDeskin Miller\n"},{"id":"112107","messageId":"20090423183705.GB17467@dcvr.yhbt.net","threadId":"19004","inReplyTo":"36ca99e90904220821u3dae67d7jcb6366d7a95dfbd1@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: [GIT-SVN] master follows not trunk","fromName":"Eric Wong","fromEmail":"normalperson@yhbt.net","sentAt":"2009-04-23T18:37:05Z","receivedAt":"2009-04-23T18:37:05Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"e@80x24.org","avatar":null},"body":"Bert Wesarg <bert.wesarg@googlemail.com> wrote:\n> Hi,\n> \n> it seams so, that git-svn sets the master branch to that svn branch\n> which has the highest revision!\n> \n> I cloned a svn repo today where exactly this happend. It was once the case that several repositories I\ntracked had work done almost exclusively in branches and trunk could've\nbeen months/years behind and worthless.\n\nHowever, this issue has come up many times now so maybe setting\nmaster==trunk if trunk exists (sometimes it does not)...\n\nAny objections?\n\n-- \nEric Wong\n"},{"id":"112121","messageId":"49F0C3A7.7070400@obry.net","threadId":"19004","inReplyTo":"20090423183705.GB17467@dcvr.yhbt.net","subject":"Re: [GIT-SVN] master follows not trunk","fromName":"Pascal Obry","fromEmail":"pascal@obry.net","sentAt":"2009-04-23T19:38:15Z","receivedAt":"2009-04-23T19:38:15Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"pascal@obry.net","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/467069?v=4"},"body":"Eric,\n\n> However, this issue has come up many times now so maybe setting\n> master==trunk if trunk exists (sometimes it does not)...\n> \n> Any objections?\n\nI think it is a good idea as this would be just right in most cases.\n\n-- \n\n--|------------------------------------------------------\n--| Pascal Obry                           Team-Ada Member\n--| 45, rue Gabriel Peri - 78114 Magny Les Hameaux FRANCE\n--|------------------------------------------------------\n--|    http://www.obry.net  -  http://v2p.fr.eu.org\n--| \"The best way to travel is by means of imagination\"\n--|\n--| gpg --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-key F949BD3B\n"}]}
