But let's face it, SVN\nis no race-horse and was never designed for the case where people like\nto look at their history much. Developing with a trunk was so painful,\npeople would rather just forget... \n\nOne workaround is to use SVK to do the initial mirroring, and the\n--use-svm-mirror flag to convert your SVK mirror path to git. See\nhttp://utsl.gen.nz/talks/git-svn/intro.html for a guide for the second\npart of that. SVK has implemented some of the harder parts of the SVN\nAPI to get right, such as request pipelining - see\nhttp://code.bestpractical.com/svk/trunk/lib/SVK/Mirror/Backend/SVNRaPipe.pm for how the SVN API \"supports\" this. As a result of this dedication to the cause, SVK does this part very quickly.\n\nSam\n"},{"id":"111940","messageId":"vpqmya9rlaj.fsf@bauges.imag.fr","threadId":"18998","inReplyTo":"1240398352.20236.26.camel@maia.lan","subject":"Re: git-svn init/fetch: wow that's slow","fromName":"Matthieu Moy","fromEmail":"matthieu.moy@imag.fr","sentAt":"2009-04-22T11:16:04Z","receivedAt":"2009-04-22T11:16:04Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"git@matthieu-moy.fr","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/14709?v=4"},"body":"Sam Vilain <sam@vilain.net> writes:\n\n> One workaround is to use SVK to do the initial mirroring, \n\nProbably svnsync can help here too.
