It looks like we respect --with[out]-tcltk, and without it we\nalways say \"just use wish from the PATH\" without detecting whether it\nactually exists:\n\n # No Tcl/Tk switches given. Yes, in case there was any confusion: I don't want my statement in\nany way to be construed as a suggestion to support automake.\n\nI would not be opposed to it if it somehow enhanced some users'\nexperience without bothering people who didn't want to touch it (like\nthe way that autoconf support is implemented). Mail me if you want links to other existing\nsites who might appreciate contributed builds.\n\n> I assume the GIT_SKIP_TESTS is done:\nIt's documented in test/README\n\n> I just tried setting SHELL_PATH (and exporting it) and the make test gets\n> into the second batch and then fails two tests. ... now test 10 of t0001.sh\n> fails because test_cmp can not be found.\n>\n> Is that a GNU tool? (I didn't see it in git or coreutils.)\n\nAs Peff said, there's a wrapper around either diff -u or a user\nsupplied comparison tool (e.g. cmp) set in GIT_TEST_CMP. Setting it to\ncmp works fine on AIX if you don't have a diff which takes -u on your\nPATH.\n\nAs (at the moment) you need bash, gcc, gmake and ginstall to build,\ntest and (maybe) run all parts of git on AIX, I haven't set up a clean\nenvironment to try and flush out any other quirks to get git to\nbuild/test/run on a stock AIX with no GNU tools installed. For obvious\nreasons such AIX machines being used for dev purposes are (I believe)\nrare.\n\nMike\n"},{"id":"102314","messageId":"87325FCF-CD16-43CE-9CD0-CAC73904903A@gmail.com","threadId":"17380","inReplyTo":"20090128074204.GA31951@coredump.intra.peff.net","subject":"Re: git 1.6.1 on AIX 5.3","fromName":"Perry Smith","fromEmail":"pedzsan@gmail.com","sentAt":"2009-01-28T15:03:23Z","receivedAt":"2009-01-28T15:03:23Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"pedzsan@gmail.com","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/7271be24693711a779e00daa3ccc3ffbb7a03765fac4d7ceed98c59562c17f71?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"On Jan 28, 2009, at 1:42 AM, Jeff King wrote:\n\n> On Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 11:37:21PM -0800, Junio C Hamano wrote:\n>\n>>>> Just to be sure we are on the same page.
