However, if importing the same mails with git am, we could see\nsubmitter's date in git log.\n\nIs this intentionally-designed log management of StGit?  I would expect\nthe submitter's date & locale is kept when importing patches from\ne-mails.\n\nReproducible: Always\n\nSteps to Reproduce:\n\n1. Prepare eml or mbox file.\n\n  [Thunderbird eml file]\n   - Select a mail,\n   - File -> Save as -> File, \n   - Format -> Mail files\n\n  [mbox file]\n   - use add-ons, such as ImportExportTools(MboxImport)\n   - extract directly from profile/ dir\n\n2. Import eml/mbox file with --mail/--mbox option\n\n  $ stg import --mail [eml file]\n  $ stg import --mbox [mbox file]\n\n3. Check git log\n\nExample:\n\n  Mbox header (this mbox contains one patch)\n  ------------------------------------------\n  From - Wed Jan  7 00:41:57 2009\n  X-Account-Key: account3\n  X-UIDL: 6d997fc0c53b4541c56eeeeb45732171\n  X-Mozilla-Status: 0001\n  X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000\n  X-Mozilla-Keys:                                                                                 X-DTI-Virus-Check: checked\n  X-DTI-Recipient: <skuribay@ruby.dti.ne.jp>\n  Return-Path: <sr@denx.de>\n  Received: from moutng.kundenserver.de (moutng.kundenserver.de [212.227.126.188]) by pop.ruby.dti.ne.jp (3.10p) with ESMTP id n06AZr2v009835 for <skuribay@ruby.dti.ne.jp>; Tue, 6 Jan 2009 19:35:53 +0900 (JST)\n  Received: from localhost.localdomain (p5B2A461A.dip.t-dialin.net [91.42.70.26])\n          by mrelayeu.kundenserver.de (node=mrelayeu1) with ESMTP (Nemesis)\n          id 0MKwpI-1LK9Hn0ym1-0002Ja; Tue, 06 Jan 2009 11:35:51 +0100\n  From: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>\n  To: u-boot@lists.denx.de\n  Cc: skuribay@ruby.dti.ne.jp\n  Subject: [PATCH 1/3 v2] MIPS: Add VCT board series support (Part 1/3)\n  Date: Tue,  6 Jan 2009 11:35:46 +0100\n  Message-Id: <1231238146-2813-1-git-send-email-sr@denx.de>\n  X-Mailer: git-send-email 1.6.1\n  X-Provags-ID: V01U2FsdGVkX19dTpfkGdmBDPbfKKBfEQYFLGbts7teQcJyLTZ\n   xUdZWxGujKNfCpOIRv/s7i7nrf13E4zGP6P0nibSP6yFfDLBv3\n   0qZDbTBuPI1ViEQrnIGZCASl9Z6H8em\n\n  This patch adds support for the Micronas VCT board series.\n  Currently the following platforms are supported:\n  :\n  :\n\n  Resulting git log\n  -----------------\n  commit b659910dd0d75220c3cdbd3408a5025340e6a562\n  Author: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>\n  Date:   Thu Jan 15 00:06:27 2009 +0900 <-- this is my date & locale(JP)\n\n      MIPS: Add VCT board series support (Part 1/3)\n\n      This patch adds support for the Micronas VCT board series.\n      Currently the following platforms are supported:\n\n        vct_premium\n        vct_premium_small\n        vct_premium_onenan\n  :\n  :\n\nVersion:\n\n  Stacked GIT 0.14.3.327.ge4f6.dirty\n  git version 1.5.4.3\n  Python version 2.5.2 (r252:60911, Jul 31 2008, 17:28:52) \n  [GCC 4.2.3 (Ubuntu 4.2.3-2ubuntu7)]\n\n\nThanks in advance,\n\n  Shinya\n"},{"id":"100554","messageId":"20090115094912.GC24890@diana.vm.bytemark.co.uk","threadId":"17172","inReplyTo":"496E0656.2090705@ruby.dti.ne.jp","subject":"Re: [StGit] import --mail/--mbox question","fromName":"Karl Hasselström","fromEmail":"kha@treskal.com","sentAt":"2009-01-15T09:49:12Z","receivedAt":"2009-01-15T09:49:12Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"kha@treskal.com","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/f0120c734b5279b345075a28521e1ac66acb20c9913ffe9bf6ae97e53f7f3f13?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"On 2009-01-15 00:35:50 +0900, Shinya Kuribayashi wrote:\n\n> Question: when importing Mozilla Thunderbird mails (eml or mbox),\n> the imported patch always have committer's date in git log, not\n> submitter's date. I agree with you that the expected behavior when importing\npatches from e-mails is that the author date is set to the date in the\ne-mail, the way git-am does it.\n\nLooking at the code, it looks like the intention is that it should\nwork that way, too. So I guess it's simply a bug. Catalin, do you have\na clue?\n\n-- \nKarl Hasselström, kha@treskal.com\n      www.treskal.com/kalle\n"}]}
