Git Extensions is a Tortoise-like windows shell extension for\ngit. Yesterday I finished version 0.9, the first stable release. I included\nabout all git commands I know about, so I think it is pretty complete but\nI'm open to suggestions. \n \nIt is written mostly in C#, except for shell extension part which is written\nin C++. The project is open source, the sources can be found on GitHub. In\ncase there is someone interrested in the sources, be warned; the sources are\nnot very well documented yet and the solution is a still bit messy, I will\nclean this up very soon. \n \nMain features\n- Shell extensions\n- Visual studio plugin\n- Seperate git application\n \nFeatures:\n- Browse repository (incl. visual graph)\n- Add files\n- Apply patch\n- Checkout branch/revision\n- Cherry pick\n- Create branch/tag\n- Delete branch/tag\n- Clone\n- Commit\n- Create (format) patch\n- Init new repository\n- Merge branches\n- Pull\n- Push\n- Run mergetool\n- Stash\n- View differences\n \nInformation about the project and a installer package can be found here:\nhttp://sourceforge.net/projects/gitextensions/\nThe installation requires msysgit to be installed AND git.exe to in the\nsystem path.\n\nps.\nI know there is a TortoiseGit project also, I just didn't know about that at\nthe time I started. With all of this TortoiseGit-like activity we're bound to have\nsomething pretty usable pretty quickly! :)  I'll have to check out the\nsources soon and see if I can get involved. How are you dealing with Windows' low limit on icon\noverlay handlers? TortoiseSVN already hits the system limit, hence\ntheir development of TortoiseOverlay to provide a common icon overlay\nhandler for all the Tortoise* projects. Have you gotten GitExtensions\nto work side-by-side with TortoiseSVN? Especially when you are starting on the features that need\nuserinteraction like push/pull/clone/mergetool. These cannot just be run as\na command and catching the standard output. In the version of GitExtensions\nI published I just run the commands, but I allready have a prototype build\nin c# combined with some c++ that directly calls some (exported) Git\nfunctions.
