I think we\n> also have a Maven distribution site:\n>\n> http://code.google.com/p/egit/wiki/ConfiguringMaven\n> \n\nThat work is commendable but it a workaround to adding maven packaging \nto a build and release process that is essentially not maven. This \nprovides an important value that maven users such as myself get access \nto jgit via a maven repo. However, it does not help improve how the \nproject manages its build and release processes.\n\n> The issue is getting one of the developers to tag and upload a build.\n> Myself, I don't actually use Maven, so I don't build with it.\n> \n\nA completely maven based project would make above really simple and easy \nto manage using the maven-release-plugin and various other maven \nfacilities. Changing version labels throughout code base, committing \nmodified code, tagging, packaging, uploading etc. would all become \nautomatic with a completely maven based code base. Maven seems like it \nis too complex and not worth the trouble in first glance (I felt that \nway at one point). However, a more careful examination reveals that it \nbrings a lot of automated discipline, convenience and simplicity to \nnumerous project tasks. Perhaps Imran and others could chime in on this \nissue to help make the case for mavenizing the project more completely.\n\nAgain, I have made my case for maven previously in the following links:\n\nBackground blog:\n<http://farrukhnajmi.blogspot.com/2008/02/why-maven-rocks-in-beginning-there-was.html> \n\n\nMore useful link:\n<http://ebxmlrr.wiki.sourceforge.net/whymaven>\n\nThanks for your consideration of the suggestion.\n\n-- \nRegards,\nFarrukh Najmi\n\nWeb: http://www.wellfleetsoftware.com\n"},{"id":"97360","messageId":"20081208165234.GI31551@spearce.org","threadId":"16604","inReplyTo":"200812061947.27905.robin.rosenberg.lists@dewire.com","subject":"Re: ETA for release of gjit 0.4?","fromName":"Shawn O.
