So, I think that it would\nbe useful if git-gui notices when the remote is a mirror and does not\npass the refspec (I shall try to form a patch later when I have some time).\n\nThe other issue is that although git-push did print the usage blurb,\nit didn't actually produce a message saying what it's problem was.\nLooking at the source, I would have expected to have seen \"--mirror\ncan't be combined with refspecs\" printed but it didn't happen. Here's\nwhat I got when I run the same command (as attempted by git-gui) on the\ncommand line:\n\n$ git push -v tako refs/heads/multi-stream:refs/heads/multi-stream\nusage: git push [--all | --mirror] [--dry-run] [--tags] [--receive-pack=<git-receive-pack>] [--repo=<repository>] [-f | --force] [-v] [<repository> <refspec>...]\n\n    -v, --verbose         be verbose\n    --repo <repository>   repository\n    --all                 push all refs\n    --mirror              mirror all refs\n    --tags                push tags\n    --dry-run             dry run\n    -f, --force           force updates\n    --thin                use thin pack\n    --receive-pack <receive-pack>\n                          receive pack program\n    --exec <receive-pack>\n                          receive pack program\n\n\nAny ideas?\n\nCheers,\n\nMark\n"},{"id":"96972","messageId":"20081202174931.4f5c6560@crow","threadId":"16553","inReplyTo":"20081202130859.43ba54f6@crow","subject":"Re: Bugs in git-gui and git-push when pushing src:dst to mirror?","fromName":"Mark Burton","fromEmail":"markb@ordern.com","sentAt":"2008-12-02T17:49:31Z","receivedAt":"2008-12-02T17:49:31Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"markb@ordern.com","avatar":null},"body":"\nOn Tue, 2 Dec 2008 13:08:59 +0000\nMark Burton <markb@ordern.com> wrote:\n\n> The other issue is that although git-push did print the usage blurb,\n> it didn't actually produce a message saying what it's problem was.\n\nAh, just twigged, 1.6.0.4 doesn't include b259f09b181c (Make push more\nverbose about illegal combination of options) so the lack of error message\nfrom push is understandable.\n\nCheers,\n\nMark\n"}]}
