It's\na darcs backend for fast importers.\n\nThis means that it allows you to export patches/commits from a darcs\nrepo and import to any version control system where a fast importer is\nimplemented.\n\nCurrent features:\n\n- According to its name, it tries to be really fast, even for large\n  repos.\n\n- Independent. It has been tested with git fast-import, hg fastimport\n  and bzr fast-import. (Let me know if you know other fast-importers!)\n\n- It supports both (darcs1 and darcs2) darcs repo formats.\n\n- It supports incremental conversions.\n\nMore info on the homepage:\n\nhttp://vmiklos.hu/project/darcs-fast-export/\n\nIncluding a list of alternatives, where I try to compare them to\ndarcs-fast-export.\n\nAny feedback or comment is appreciated.\n\nI'm not on the bazaar and the mercurial list, so there please CC me.\n\nThanks.\n\n\n_______________________________________________\ndarcs-users mailing list\ndarcs-users@darcs.net\nhttp://lists.osuosl.org/mailman/listinfo/darcs-users\n"},{"id":"95426","messageId":"AC24F62F-9CFC-442D-8744-813F1930C2F7@zooko.com","threadId":"16257","inReplyTo":"20081111015313.GB24201@genesis.frugalware.org","subject":"Re: [ANNOUNCE] darcs-fast-export","fromName":"zooko","fromEmail":"zooko@zooko.com","sentAt":"2008-11-11T02:39:26Z","receivedAt":"2008-11-11T02:39:26Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"zooko@zooko.com","avatar":null},"body":"Hello Miklos Vajna:\n\nThanks for announcing this project.\n\nI looked at the \"alternatives\" section, and you wrote:\n\n\"tailor is a nice any2any VCS converter, but the end result can  \neasily differ to the original repo because tailor replays all the  \nchangesets itself, while darcs-fast-export just leaves this task to  \ndarcs.\"\n\nIf you can show an example of the end result differing from the  \noriginal repo then that is a bug in tailor, and please report it!\n\nThanks.\n\nRegards,\n\nZooko\n---\nhttp://allmydata.org -- Tahoe, the Least-Authority Filesystem\nhttp://allmydata.com -- back up all your files for $10/month\n"},{"id":"95457","messageId":"20081111133740.GE24201@genesis.frugalware.org","threadId":"16257","inReplyTo":"AC24F62F-9CFC-442D-8744-813F1930C2F7@zooko.com","subject":"Re: [darcs-users] [ANNOUNCE] darcs-fast-export","fromName":"Miklos Vajna","fromEmail":"vmiklos@frugalware.org","sentAt":"2008-11-11T13:37:40Z","receivedAt":"2008-11-11T13:37:40Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"vmiklos@frugalware.org","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/401c1cbbb3a5d13e650c691a2c71d6fd0b80df1a01bc74d9f1972675dd58f2bd?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"On Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 07:39:26PM -0700, zooko <zooko@zooko.com> wrote:\n> If you can show an example of the end result differing from the original \n> repo then that is a bug in tailor, and please report it!\n\nExample:\n\nhttp://git.frugalware.org/gitweb/gitweb.cgi?p=frugalware-current.git;a=commit;h=b75189e1689d268f7efa4610ff12c48a67221dc0\n\nOriginal darcs repo:\n\nhttp://ftp.frugalware.org/pub/archive/other/darcs/frugalware-current/\n\nIf you have a look at the history of the tailor darcs repo, you can see\nI contributed a number of fixes later to fix these (where 'these' means\nthe ones which were pointed out by this particular conversion only)\nissues.\n"}]}
