Prior versions\n would have applied stash@{0} incorrectly.\n\n* \"git stash apply\" now offers a better suggestion on how to continue\n if the working tree is currently dirty.\n\n* \"git for-each-ref --format=%(subject)\" fixed for commits with no\n no newline in the message body.\n\n* \"git remote\" fixed to protect printf from user input.\n\n* \"git remote show -v\" now displays all URLs of a remote.\n\n* \"git checkout -b branch\" was confused when branch already existed.\n\n* \"git checkout -q\" once again suppresses the locally modified file list.\n\n* \"git clone -q\", \"git fetch -q\" asks remote side to not send\n progress messages, actually making their output quiet.\n\n* Cross-directory renames are no longer used when creating packs. This\n allows more graceful behavior on filesystems like sshfs.\n\n* Stale temporary files under $GIT_DIR/objects/pack are now cleaned up\n automatically by \"git prune\".\n\n* \"git merge\" once again removes directories after the last file has\n been removed from it during the merge.\n\n* \"git merge\" did not allocate enough memory for the structure itself when\n enumerating the parents of the resulting commit.\n\n* \"git blame -C -C\" no longer segfaults while trying to pass blame if\n it encounters a submodule reference.\n\n* \"git rm\" incorrectly claimed that you have local modifications when a\n path was merely stat-dirty.\n\n* \"git svn\" fixed to display an error message when 'set-tree' failed,\n instead of a Perl compile error.\n\n* \"git submodule\" fixed to handle checking out a different commit\n than HEAD after initializing the submodule.\n\n* The \"git commit\" error message when there are still unmerged\n files present was clarified to match \"git write-tree\".\n\n* \"git init\" was confused when core.bare or core.sharedRepository are set\n in system or user global configuration file by mistake. When --bare or\n --shared is given from the command line, these now override such\n settings made outside the repositories.\n\n* Some segfaults due to uncaught NULL pointers were fixed in multiple\n tools such as apply, reset, update-index.\n\n* Solaris builds now default to OLD_ICONV=1 to avoid compile warnings;\n Solaris 8 does not define NEEDS_LIBICONV by default.\n\n* \"Git.pm\" tests relied on unnecessarily more recent version of Perl.\n\n* \"gitweb\" triggered undef warning on commits without log messages.\n\n* \"gitweb\" triggered undef warnings on missing trees.\n\n* \"gitweb\" now removes PATH_INFO from its URLs so users don't have\n to manually set the URL in the gitweb configuration.\n\n* Bash completion removed support for legacy \"git-fetch\", \"git-push\"\n and \"git-pull\" as these are no longer installed. Dashless form\n (\"git fetch\") is still however supported.\n\nMany other documentation updates.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n\nChanges since v1.6.0.2 are as
