Maybe it's that?\n\nAlmost.\n\nI think its that there are submodules in the local side and they are\nbeing pushed to the remote peer, but the git binary on the client\nthat is being used to execute git-push doesn't know about submodules.\n\n\"error: pack-objects died with strange error\":\n\nThis was pack-objects aborting when it saw a subtree entry and it\ncouldn't trace down that path in order to include it into the pack.\n\n\"unpack eof before pack header was fully read\":\n\nThis is the server side aborting because its gotten the command\nset from the git-push client, but pack-objects never even got to\ncreate the pack header, since it couldn't generate the full list\nof objects it needed to include.\n\nTom, try upgrading to a Git implementation on the client. It seems\nto me that this repository must have been moved here by means outside\nof Git (NFS mount?), or the client got downgraded (wrong $PATH?)\n\n-- \nShawn.\n"},{"id":"91683","messageId":"30774.1222439369@as220.org","threadId":"15676","inReplyTo":"20080926082003.GA6772@strlen.de","subject":"Re: mysterious error message","fromName":"tom sgouros","fromEmail":"tomfool@as220.org","sentAt":"2008-09-26T14:29:29Z","receivedAt":"2008-09-26T14:29:29Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"tomfool@as220.org","avatar":null},"body":"\n> Hello,\n> \n> On Thu, Sep 25, 2008 at 05:33:38PM -0400, Tom Sgouros wrote:\n> > I receive the following error message when I try to do a 'git push':\n> > \n> > tomfool@toms-box:hpl$ git push\n> > updating 'refs/heads/master'\n> > from ad4ae7925d3dd23798e7c5b733d2d8f930f7410f\n> > to 5b5f5fae014a4f3535fa10b0f6e28b4bf3225dc3\n> > Also local refs/remotes/origin/master\n> > Generating pack...\n> > Done counting 10 objects.\n> > Deltifying 10 objects...\n> > error: pack-objects died with strange error\n> > unpack eof before pack header was fully read\n> > ng refs/heads/master n/a (unpacker error)\n> > error: failed to push to 'ssh://tomfool@as220.org/home/tomfool/hpl.git'\n> > tomfool@toms-box:hpl$\n> > \n> > I haven't been able to interpret this message, and haven't found it in\n> > the documentation, and google has let me down, too.
