I've looked into other mtn2git\nscripts but none fitted my needs.\n\nAfter some rfcs on git and monotone mailing lists it seems now the\nscript is going in the right direction.\n\nThere are two modes:\n\n== checkout ==\n\nIn this mode each revision is checked out and imported directly into\ngit. This means it's 100% sure that the result would be an exact\nclone.\n\nThe disadvantage is that it's extremely slow (1 day for 25,000 commits).\n\n== fast-import ==\n\nThis mode requires a few patches for git fast-import, it's very fast\n(40 min for 25,000 commits), but not 100% reliable yet.\n\nThere are also some missing features like branch creation and updates.\n\n\nMy plan is to keep these two modes in the code until fast-import\nmethod is reliable enough.\n\nI've tried this with Pidgin's repository. The result is here:\nhttp://github.com/felipec/pidgin-clone\n\nIt would be interesting to do something similar with OE's repo. Any takers?\n\nComments and patches are welcome :)\n\n-- \nFelipe Contreras\n"},{"id":"90627","messageId":"m3d4j8nzy9.fsf@localhost.localdomain","threadId":"15509","inReplyTo":"94a0d4530809121559w5f644174j461ec61cb2327fd8@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: [ANN] mtn2git v0.1","fromName":"Jakub Narebski","fromEmail":"jnareb@gmail.com","sentAt":"2008-09-13T09:45:04Z","receivedAt":"2008-09-13T09:45:04Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jnareb@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/2706?v=4"},"body":"\"Felipe Contreras\" <felipe.contreras@gmail.com> writes:\n\n> This is the result of various experiments I've been doing while trying\n> to import mtn repositories into git.
