If it gets a bus error we'll at least get a stack\ntrace in gdb and can see where we were when the corruption killed us.\nIts a start.\n\nIf `gdb git merge` doesn't come up with the corruption then it is\nthe git-merge-recursive backend.  Try running it from the libexec\ndirectory (see git --exec-path) under gdb and passing into it as\narguments:\n\n\t$(git merge-base HEAD $branch) -- HEAD $branch\n\nwhere $branch is what you were giving to git merge in the first\nplace.\n\nAgain, let us know what the trace is so we can at least narrow\ndown where the corruption killed it.  Once we know more than just\n\"it dies\" we'll probably be able to ask more interesting questions\nto help narrow it down.\n\n-- \nShawn.\n"},{"id":"87773","messageId":"7vod3owo5x.fsf@gitster.siamese.dyndns.org","threadId":"15098","inReplyTo":"20080819234905.GK24212@spearce.org","subject":"Re: git merge bus error","fromName":"Junio C Hamano","fromEmail":"gitster@pobox.com","sentAt":"2008-08-20T00:00:42Z","receivedAt":"2008-08-20T00:00:42Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"gitster@pobox.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/54884?v=4"},"body":"\"Shawn O. I am curious how it gets sigbus instead.\n"}]}
