In addition to its native platform\n(Linux/Unix), cola also runs on OSX and Windows.\n\nAlthough tarballs, .rpms and .deb packages are available, building it\nfrom source is very easy.\n\nOn debian it's as simple as:\n\n    sudo apt-get install simplejson python-qt4 pyqt4-dev-tools python-pyinotify\n    git clone git://gitorious.org/git-cola/mainline.git cola\n    cd cola && ./configure && make && make install\n\nLike git gui, it allows you to do very fine-grained commits.  It has a\nbunch of other random useful stuff, so I figured it was about time to\nannounce it here.  It has inotify support on Linux, which is why\nthere's no rescan button in cola.\n\nHopefully the code isn't too rotten ;-)\n\n\nCAVEATS:\n\ni18n/l10n is incomplete.  I used the latest .po files from git-gui,\nbut obviously there are a number of strings in git cola that don't\nhave translations.  If there is an interest in cola from the user\ncommunity then I will need some advice on how to handle this\nsituation.  I don't like having stolen the .po's from git-gui (sorry\nShawn!) but it did prove that the infrastucture for \"LANG=ja git cola\"\nis working correctly.\n\ncola works by parsing git commands.  It's pretty fast despite the\nprocess overhead, though it'll probably be a bit slower on windows.  I\nhave no idea what cr/lf issues exist (if any), though I've tried to be\ncareful about it.\n\n\nenjoy,\n\np.s. if you happen to prefer dark color themes you can run: git cola\n--style=dark\n\n-- \n David\n"},{"id":"85863","messageId":"20080801083413.2ac1782b@pc09.procura.nl","threadId":"14787","inReplyTo":"402731c90807312308l4870382dsb707fafd37f9b1d4@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: [ANN] git cola: a highly caffeinated git gui","fromName":"H.Merijn Brand","fromEmail":"h.m.brand@xs4all.nl","sentAt":"2008-08-01T06:34:13Z","receivedAt":"2008-08-01T06:34:13Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"h.m.brand@xs4all.nl","avatar":"https://gravatar.com/avatar/5b8f83ee35c427a646cbea3b104346e00ab3663b99bbf435cddeb75cd4b3857b?d=mp&s=160"},"body":"On Thu, 31 Jul 2008 23:08:01 -0700, \"David Aguilar\" <davvid@gmail.com>\nwrote:\n\n> Greetings!\n> \n> The latest version of git cola is available for download from the\n> usual interwebs:\n> \n>     http://cola.tuxfamily.org/\n>     http://gitorious.org/projects/git-cola/\n\nYour dependencies don't match.\n\n# cola-1.1.1-2.noarch.rpm\n\n$ cola\nTraceback (most recent call last):\n  File \"/usr/bin/cola\", line 112, in <module>\n    main()\n  File \"/usr/bin/cola\", line 53, in main\n    from cola.models import Model\n  File \"../../cola/models.py\", line 9, in <module>\n  File \"../../cola/utils.py\", line 9, in <module>\n  File \"../../cola/defaults.py\", line 4, in <module>\nImportError: No module named PyQt4.QtCore\n\n-- \nH.Merijn Brand          Amsterdam Perl Mongers  http://amsterdam.pm.org/\nusing & porting perl 5.6.2, 5.8.x, 5.10.x, 5.11.x on HP-UX 10.20, 11.00,\n11.11, 11.23, and 11.31, SuSE 10.1, 10.2, and 10.3, AIX 5.2, and Cygwin.\nhttp://mirrors.develooper.com/hpux/           http://www.test-smoke.org/\nhttp://qa.perl.org      http://www.goldmark.org/jeff/stupid-disclaimers/\n"},{"id":"85864","messageId":"402731c90807312352raa55138y858fbb8650919265@mail.gmail.com","threadId":"14787","inReplyTo":"20080801083413.2ac1782b@pc09.procura.nl","subject":"Re: [ANN] git cola: a highly caffeinated git gui","fromName":"David Aguilar","fromEmail":"davvid@gmail.com","sentAt":"2008-08-01T06:52:18Z","receivedAt":"2008-08-01T06:52:18Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"davvid@gmail.com","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/13196?v=4"},"body":"On Thu, Jul 31, 2008 at 11:34 PM, H.Merijn Brand <h.m.brand@xs4all.nl> wrote:\n> On Thu, 31 Jul 2008 23:08:01 -0700, \"David Aguilar\" <davvid@gmail.com>\n> wrote:\n>\n>> Greetings!\n>>\n>> The latest version of git cola is available for download from the\n>> usual interwebs:\n>>\n>>     http://cola.tuxfamily.org/\n>>     http://gitorious.org/projects/git-cola/\n>\n> Your dependencies don't match.\n>\n> # cola-1.1.1-2.noarch.rpm\n\nsorry, I used alien to convert my .debs into an rpm. scripts/mkdeb.sh.\nyum installing pyqt4 should fix it.\n\n\n\n> ImportError: No module named PyQt4.QtCore\n>\n> --\n> H.Merijn Brand          Amsterdam Perl Mongers  http://amsterdam.pm.org/\n> using & porting perl 5.6.2, 5.8.x, 5.10.x, 5.11.x on HP-UX 10.20, 11.00,\n> 11.11, 11.23, and 11.31, SuSE 10.1, 10.2, and 10.3, AIX 5.2, and Cygwin.\n> http://mirrors.develooper.com/hpux/           http://www.test-smoke.org/\n> http://qa.perl.org      http://www.goldmark.org/jeff/stupid-disclaimers/\n>\n\n\n\n--\n David\n"}]}
