Here's the current problem:\n\nGit is working perfectly over SSH. The server is Ubuntu, and doing\ncadaver https://serveraddress/.git successfully authenticates using\nthe passwd file I provided to Apache. Basically I've done everything\nfrom Rutger's guide\n(http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/docs/v1.4.4.4/howto/setup-git-server-over-http.txt)\nexcept for the ~/.netrc stuff.\n\nHowever, once authenticated to the .git folder (cadaver through\nhttps), basic commands give strange errors or 404s. Ls throws \"Listing\ncollection `/.git/': failed:\nCould not read status line: Secure connection truncated\" and cd\n/to/some/legitimate/directory throws \"Could not access /.git/dir/ (not\nWebDAV-enabled?):\n404 Not Found.\" Oddly tab-completion for cd suggests the contents of\nthe directory (although I'm cadaver-ing from localhost). Same results\nremotely in a browser: authenticates successfully and gives 404s.\n\nTrying git clone https://server/.git throws:\n\n\"warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout\"\n\n...despite the working certificate and authorization. There appears to be some problem with\nyour Apache setup. If nobody on the list here offers a solution, you might\nwant to try the apache mailing list or #apache.\n\nSean\n"},{"id":"86754","messageId":"vpqsktbga1y.fsf@bauges.imag.fr","threadId":"14735","inReplyTo":"a7b96a640807290453l582c3f11w6a0f0c841063f07@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: SSL + mod_dav + Git","fromName":"Matthieu Moy","fromEmail":"matthieu.moy@imag.fr","sentAt":"2008-08-11T09:44:57Z","receivedAt":"2008-08-11T09:44:57Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"git@matthieu-moy.fr","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/14709?v=4"},"body":"\"Chris Hart\" <chris@christopherhart.ca> writes:\n\n> However, once authenticated to the .git folder (cadaver through\n> https), basic commands give strange errors or 404s.
