You can create branches in\ngit that *aren't* tracked in svn, of course, if you want to do that.\n\nAnd creating branches in svn is a single command, even if you don't\nhave an svn checkout:\n\n   svn cp $SVN/trunk $SVN/branches/whatever\n\nSo it seems unnecessary to duplicate this feature in git.\n\nHave fun,\n\nAvery\n"},{"id":"81314","messageId":"4863E872.4070904@obry.net","threadId":"14164","inReplyTo":"32541b130806260908m7ca2060bub071da52aa7a33ce@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: git-svn branches creation question","fromName":"Pascal Obry","fromEmail":"pascal@obry.net","sentAt":"2008-06-26T19:05:22Z","receivedAt":"2008-06-26T19:05:22Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"pascal@obry.net","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/467069?v=4"},"body":"Avery,\n\n> And creating branches in svn is a single command, even if you don't\n> have an svn checkout:\n> \n>    svn cp $SVN/trunk $SVN/branches/whatever\n\nThat's what I'm doing as I said in my message.\n\n> So it seems unnecessary to duplicate this feature in git.\n\nWell it would be quite handy to work on Git directly (eventually \noff-line) and doing the final \"git svn dcommit\" to update the subversion \nrepository and creating the branches if necessary.\n\nPascal.\n\n-- \n\n--|------------------------------------------------------\n--| Pascal Obry                           Team-Ada Member\n--| 45, rue Gabriel Peri - 78114 Magny Les Hameaux FRANCE\n--|------------------------------------------------------\n--|              http://www.obry.net\n--| \"The best way to travel is by means of imagination\"\n--|\n--| gpg --keyserver wwwkeys.pgp.net --recv-key C1082595\n"}]}
