The major one\nbeing the status file now has a new format. The motivation for this was the\nfact that the series file effectively duplicated functionality that git\nitself offered by setting arbitrary refs (e.g., refs/patches/$branch/$patch).\nMigration between the two formats should be rather painless. If you have no\napplied patches, no extra work is required. If you happen to have some\npatches already applied, any guilt command will tell you to run:\nguilt-repair --status.\n\nOther than the status file change, there have been a number of improvements\nall over the place. A couple of bash-isms were removed, patchbomb no longer\nincludes \"1/1\" in the subject when there's only one patch, guilt-repair is\nmore powerful, and can be used to fix up a number of conditions (e.g.,\nautotags left behind, status file format upgrade, etc.), autotagging no\nlonger ignores global guilt.autotag config value.\n\nAs always, patches, and other feedback is welcome.\n\nJosef \"Jeff\" Sipek.\n\n------------\nChanges since v0.29:\n\nAdam Golebiowski (1):\n Add support for DESTDIR in guilt/Makefile.\n\nJosef 'Jeff' Sipek (35):\n guilt: Use 'git update-ref' instead of echo\n Patch names cannot contain whitespace\n guilt: setup/teardown refs/patches/$branch/$patch on push/pop\n Remove old status format\n repair: remove patch refs\n regression: test guilt-repair\n commit: new command to permanently commit patches\n regression: guilt-commit test\n regression: fix up test 028 expected output\n Update my email address\n repair: allow status file upgrade\n guilt: check status file for being old format\n guilt: replace \"echo && return 1\" with die\n repair: added --autotag repair mode\n guilt: wrap `git-update-ref -d` to make ref removal cleaner\n regression: simple makefile\n fork: fix regression caused by status format change\n guilt: try to be more portable\n Replace all display related `echo` calls with a custom function\n regression: simplify command logging\n regression: try to be more portable\n guilt: ref_rename_patch takes patch names, not ref names\n regression: test for guilt-fork\n regression: 011 should test guilt-commit as well\n init: honor a global/system guilt.autotag config option\n regression: test the new init options\n autotagging: fix a tiny quirk, and document autotagging properly\n import-commit: replace be careful about * and ? in filenames\n graph: display patch names instead of hashes\n patchbomb: do not include \"1/1\" in the subject if there's only 1 patch\n files: use the diff-index for top-most patch\n regression: test guilt-files reading the index for the top-most applied patch\n regression: test guilt-files -v\n regression: test that supplied test numbers are valid\n Guilt v0.30\n"},{"id":"74108","messageId":"20080411002630.GD3838@josefsipek.net","threadId":"13059","inReplyTo":"20080411000143.GC3838@josefsipek.net","subject":"Guilt: Autotagging - aye or nay?","fromName":"Josef 'Jeff' Sipek","fromEmail":"jeffpc@josefsipek.net","sentAt":"2008-04-11T00:26:30Z","receivedAt":"2008-04-11T00:26:30Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"jeffpc@josefsipek.net","avatar":null},"body":"Greetings all!\n\nI was trying to figure out what the default for Guilt's autotagging feature\nshould be. Currently, the default is for it to be on, unless it's\noverridden by an already existing config setting.\n\nFor those who may not be familiar with autotagging, here's an excerpt from\nthe guilt(7) man page:\n\n\tAutotagging is a feature that automatically creates unannotated tags\n\tfor top, bottom, and base of the stack.\n\n\tOn every push or pop operation (refresh is a pop followed by a\n\tpush), Guilt updates the stack top (${branch}_top), stack bottom\n\t(${branch}_bottom), and stack base (${branch}_base) tags.\n\n\t\tTop: Top-most applied patch/commit\n\t\tBottom: Bottom-most applied patch/commit\n\t\tBase: Commit on top of which the bottom most patch is applied\n\n\tHaving these three tags, one can easily get the log/diff/other\n\tinformation only for commits that are (or are not!) part of the\n\tpatch stack.\n\nSo far the few people (including myself for the past few months) I asked\nprivately, all said that they turn the feature off.\n\nIdeas?
