Archive it on the web if \nyou want, but a mailing list is more suited to this kind of thing.. or \nbetter yet a newsgroup. I think this could be divided into two groups, one for\n> git-user and the other for git-devel.\n\nThis is missing the point slightly. If you ask a question on this \nlist now it will be read by a lot of people who know git intimately \nand will help in very short order. These are the people who come to \nthe list for other things (development discussions, patches, etc). If \nyou split the group these people will not see your questions so they \nwon't get answered. How does that help the community or make it \nstronger? It might well fracture the community into two groups: One \nthat is now free to get even more development done, and one that \nnever gets any of its questions answered!\n\nThat said, this list is very high traffic. If you want to reduce that \nwhy not filter out all mails with things like \"[PATCH\", \"[BUG]\", etc \nin the title and you'll just about have your git-users list!\n\nCheers,\nRob\n"},{"id":"73969","messageId":"alpine.LNX.1.00.0804091358590.19665@iabervon.org","threadId":"13024","inReplyTo":"32541b130804081618rfaca3barb8ffbb78241ee8b5@mail.gmail.com","subject":"Re: ANNOUNCE: Git Forum","fromName":"Daniel Barkalow","fromEmail":"barkalow@iabervon.org","sentAt":"2008-04-09T18:08:39Z","receivedAt":"2008-04-09T18:08:39Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"barkalow@iabervon.org","avatar":"https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/55364219?v=4"},"body":"On Tue, 8 Apr 2008, Avery Pennarun wrote:\n\n> On Tue, Apr 8, 2008 at 7:07 PM, Martin Langhoff\n> <martin.langhoff@gmail.com> wrote:\n> > On Tue, Apr 8, 2008 at 8:01 PM, Patrick Aljord <patcito@gmail.com> wrote:\n> > > here it is: http://groups.google.com/group/git-users\n> >\n> > Is it clear to everyone here that splitting a community does not make\n> > it stronger?\n> \n> One interesting point is that the current list might have *too much*\n> discussion.
