It shows escape sequences as the escapes by \ndefault.\n\n> If set to FRSX, it works perfectly.\n\nIt's the '-R' part that does the magic.\n\n> Is this a bug ?\n\nNo, it's documented less behaviour. See \"man less\".\n\nIf you want to use \"-M\", you can mix it with R (or the other flags, for \nthat matter) and use \"LESS=MR\" or \"LESS=FRSXM\" or whatever you like. But \nif you want less to pass through colors, you need that R there somewhere.\n\n(You could use lower-case \"r\" too, but that's very dangerous, since it \nlets through _all_ escape sequences, including the ones that really screw \nup your terminal experience)\n\n\t\tLinus\n"},{"id":"73174","messageId":"200803270100.m2R101GJ003814@localhost.localdomain","threadId":"12866","inReplyTo":"alpine.LFD.1.00.0803251914150.2775@woody.linux-foundation.org","subject":"Re: git diff odds","fromName":"Xavier Maillard","fromEmail":"xma@gnu.org","sentAt":"2008-03-27T01:00:01Z","receivedAt":"2008-03-27T01:00:01Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"xma@gnu.org","avatar":null},"body":"\n > Is this a bug ?\n\n No, it's documented less behaviour.
